One thing that all Republicans need to hear:

Donald Trump is not a Republican. He is not a Democrat. He is not even an honorable American.

He is a con man. He is a carnival barker. He is for whatever advances the interests of Donald Trump. He is not for advancing the interests of America.

Donald Trump has donated to Democrats many times in the past. He donated to Hillary Clinton.

"Yeah, but he is against abortion and gives us the judges that we want".

"He has given us jobs and a good economy", some might say.

He also gave a two-trillion dollar tax cut to the wealthy.

Exactly.

But all good things come to an end and you will still have Donald Trump.

And Donald Trump is Putin's puppet.

and policies. Democrat in the White Hose - deficits and Federal Debt BAD. Rethug in the WH - who cares? GWB in WH - actual concerned comments from Rethugs about climate change. Obama in WH - climate change a HOAX.
Rethug in WH Executive Orders okay - Democrats in WH - power grab, unconstitutional. And on and on.

Point is the Republican populace believe what Fox and Reichwing radio tell them to believe.

by the money side of the party, in an unholy agreement with conservative southern Dems, ending Reconstruction. Though against slavery, much of the Civil War Republican party were by no means abolitionist. Lincoln bridged these diverse parts of the Republican party and his thoughts on abolition evolved over time.

The reason he's successful is the same reason other demagogues are successful. It's far easier to appeal to emotion rather than reason and most people can't recognize when someone is manipulating them through their emotions.

The difference is the demagogue appeals to negative base emotions. Hate and fear are far more powerful motivators and those who use them to motivate people are far more nefarious. That's why it's more important to call out that behavior for what it is.

… that when people want to paint someone as vile, as a cheat, as someone beneath contempt that they would stop using the term "carnival barker" as a pejorative. I spent 40+ years in the Outdoor Amusement Business i.e. Carnivals. Not only is that term NOT used in the business, and hasn't been since long before I started working in it, it's a stereotype that paints us all as jerks. I've met and been associated with some of the finest most caring hard working people its been my pleasure to be friends and co-workers with while working in this fun and yes enlightening line of work. 99.8% of us (yes I still consider myself "with it", once a Carny ALWAYS a Carny) are as honest as the vast majority of people with more "traditional" lines of work. Todays carnival business has no tolerance for the behavior ascribed by that term. You would be hard pressed to find any shadiness in the modern carnival business. We have a few bad apples, just like any OTHER careers. Are ALL Police indiscriminate killers? Are ALL union workers lazy and just place fillers drawing a paycheck?

Here at D.U. and in our ….. circle ... we rightly decry stereotypes and prejudice of all kinds except this. Why? We endure this day in and day out from some of our patrons and yes after awhile it just kind of rolls off your back a bit. From THEM. That's does not mean its not hurtful all the same. I do not/did not except the same here.

Yes, I agree with all the points made but can there NO other way to describe this orange piece of shit that pollutes our White House?

Most people love carnivals, else they wouldn’t exist anymore. I think most people don’t know that such a role even exists anymore.

It seems Trump can only be described in stereotypical terms because he is so outrageous that any attempt at describing him legitimately takes up too much time and volumes of words. It’s easier to use stereotypes.

I appreciate your post and your point.

11. The Republican Party laid the groundwork for Trump
Sun May 5, 2019, 09:52 AM
May 2019

Decades of dishonesty and collusion with rightwing media have created a "conservative" ideology and propaganda narrative that was tailor made for a con man like Trump to take advantage of.

He was simply better at pushing the buttons of hate, fear, racism, and ignorace -- because he is even more devoid of morals and ethics than the Republicans who crafted and repeated the propaganda which has brainwashed nearly half the American electorate.

Make no mistake:
Donald Trump is the embodiment of today's Republican Party.

Some of them might despise and fear the monster they created, but create it they did.
