....to testify. Are they looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion? There was no crime, except on the other side (incredibly not covered in the Report), and NO OBSTRUCTION. Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!
Reality check: Mueller did not conclude that Trump did not obstruct justice, and in fact specifically chose not to exonerate him in his report. The special counsel laid out extensive evidence of episodes in which Trump may have obstructed justice, with Attorney General Barr later taking the matter into his own hands to clear the president.
In the end, the Mueller investigation will likely not cost $35,000,000 as Trump claimed in his tweet thanks to the millions of dollars in restitution seized from former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, who is now in prison.

(111,089 posts)Neither he nor Bob Barr get to decide when to stop investigating the Russians.
His latest phone call? What was the purpose of that? When someone acts like such a dupe, the investigation must continue.
Although, I do think the Democrats should start at the bottom and work up, rather than starting at the top and working down. There are important witnesses that need to be heard.

(111,089 posts)Certainly not the people and not the Congress.
The Congress is an independent branch of government, last I checked.
They will say when their investigation is over and when they will stop calling witnesses.

"The Congress is an independent branch of government, last I checked. "
The House, perhaps, but I'd argue that that's not necessarily true of the Senate, at least not in current practice. The majority is acting as an extension of the administration.

(7,142 posts)Mueller is still a justice department employee. He would have a better case to testify if he quits and then there is still no guarantee that he will testify.
I'm betting that Trump/Barr stop Mueller and push this to the courts.

(2,785 posts)Did anybody seriously think Trump and Barr would have no problem with Mueller testifying before congress? Looks like someone is scared that the truth is going to come out. Somebody is scared Mueller is going to break his character and just say flat out "look if it were not for department of justice policy I would've have indicted Trump."
