The Republican fix is in.

(108,977 posts)People seem to have forgotten that part of his job was running a counter-intelligence investigation in addition to the criminal investigation. I think he's probably still working on the report of his counter-intelligence investigation, and that's why he's still there.
If he was telling the House he didn't want to testify, they would be telling us that, and they would be subpoenaing him. They're not. I think they're waiting for him to be ready.
I noticed that he was about the only "name" in the DOJ who did NOT attend Rosenstein's farewell party the other day. That was interesting.

That way he can claim he was compelled to testify.

(28,136 posts)This is by design.
They keep our hopes pinned to the latest revelations only to go nowhere.
How many more days will we watch pundits like Rachel bring issues to light only for them to go away?
How many times have you thought, "Well, that should do him in" only nothing happens.
Meanwhile our country is being sold.
I'm done getting my hopes up.

(22,990 posts)That's from the tweeted CNN link: https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/09/politics/robert-mueller-testimony-talks/index.html
Bolding mine:
"I don't think he's going to come in on the 15th, but it may be shortly thereafter," Nadler said on Thursday evening.
It's still possible Mueller could testify on May 15, because the seven-day rule can be waived. But Nadler's office doesn't expect that will be the case with Mueller's appearance.

(14,307 posts)He is still a DoJ employee, doing who knows what. Let him resign when hes done, then he can testify without interference from Barr.

(51,590 posts)Does he want Mueller to be free of DOJ employment. He said yesterday that it shouldn't matter whether or not he is part of the DOJ when he testifies. If tRump were to attempt to stop Mueller from testifying it doesn't have a chance of standing up in courts and they would subpoena him too, but Nadler said it wouldn't even get to that point. I don't know why this is happening and want more info.

(18,123 posts)From the article:
The committee is still trying to nail down a date for Mueller's testimony, and May 15 is running into a committee rule that hearings are announced seven days before they occur.

(8,144 posts)to influence politics, save the country from Trump, or defy the law to testify. His investigation and the resulting report is the major reason the have real firepower to fight Trump with now.

(22,976 posts)Im no big fan of Mueller, when he had a huge opportunity to really stick it to the lawless Cult45.
But if the tug-of-war over subpoenas, documents, etc. keeps on, I think its likely that Mueller will testify. Hes still employed, and hes such a straight-arrow, itll be after he leaves his post.

(10,870 posts)Very few people will ever read the report.
Mueller must testify that Barrs summarizations were wrong.
If not, Trump escapes and will feel emboldened.

(50,269 posts)normal. It's hard to imagine someone with his reputation would flush it for the likes of our wannabe, orange dictator. He still has a chance to be the hero in this story. Hero or lemming . . . probably lemming.
