Fascism fails if we are not SNOOKERED into self-imposed impotence!

When the GOP warns us that an action on the part of the Democrats would hurt the Democrats……well…..Occam would say: They are telling us not to do something because they DON’T want us to do something! Every time this happens, too many in our party swallow this reverse psych technique hook, line, and sinker! Believe me….they are NOT trying to help the Democratic party avoid self-inflicted electoral harm!

Too many of us have swallowed this canard yet again. The GOP says that if we pursue the impeachment of Trump, our losses will be similar to the losses they suffered as a consequence of the Clinton impeachment. NONSENSE! When the full facts about Clinton were exposed, what Americans saw was a very modest bit of lying about sex. With Trump, it has been massive lying and obstruction centered on national security, Russia, etc., in concert with a set of authoritarian actions. That makes a big difference! Today’s poll numbers on the subject mean nothing!

According to most legal experts, what gives us the best chance of winning in court, and to win quickly, thereby allowing us to fully expose the facts in print and via live hearings? Almost all of them say it is easiest and quickest if we pick the impeachment route.

What is the one thing Trump and crew seem the most worried about? They are desperate to ensure that the full facts are never known by the public, and they especially dread dramatic hearings that would bring the facts to life in the living rooms of America. If that were to happen, just like with Watergate, the public would be riveted to their TV screens. Even the relatively less interested masses would find out the truth, which Trump and crew figure would be disastrous. They know the law is not on their side. Therefore, they are trying to snooker us out of impeachment proceedings while they embrace full scale fascism as the only cover up mechanism left in their arsenal! THE FASCISM WILL FAIL IF WE ARE NOT SNOOKERED INTO SELF-IMPOSED IMPOTENCE!

That brings us to the matter of why most of the GOP in both houses of Congress is risking a voter backlash via their support of Trump’s authoritarian and dictatorial actions. The answer is that they figure they have nothing to lose because changing demographics make it clear that they are on their last leg electorally, irrespective of other factors that may come into play. They know that after another election cycle or two they will have an exceedingly high mountain to climb to win the presidency. They know that if their 30% minority doesn’t impose their will on the remaining 70% now, their cause will be lost forever.

So yes, they are going balls to the wall on behalf of fascism, and we had better face facts. Whether we know it or not, we are in a fight to the death, and we must act accordingly. They are cheating, lying bastards who will do ANYTHING to permanently solidify absolute power. Forget courtesy, forget civility, forget fighting by the rules….AND FORGET BEING AFRAID OF OUR OWN SHADOWS……if we are snookered into self-imposed impotence, and Trump is allowed to impose strong authoritarian measures, the America we have known for over two hundred years will be gone forever!

13. No, it applies to phenomena, not authored fiction - which propaganda is.

It underlies all scientific modelling and theory building. It admonishes us to choose from a set of otherwise equivalent models of a given phenomenon the simplest one.

If someone is gaslighting you, the simplest assumption is that one is going crazy. But that would be completely erroneous. Applying Occam's razor works to one's disadvantage in that case.

Trump/GOP uses gaslighting frequently.

It that clearer?

2. No one is going impotent

Doing something methodically takes time. Doing it recklessly is fast but can have disastrous results.

No need to call Democrats with a lot of legislative and legal experience "impotent" just because a) they are doing their jobs methodically within the constrains of the law or b) playing a long game.

I don't like Democrats being attacked here - no matter how subtly.

3. Don't kid yourself, if they say it will hurt us to do something, in actuality IT WILL HELP US!

Okay, the GOP is giving us sound advice because they want to help us. Let's just do and don't do whatever they tell us to do or don't do for our "benefit". It's gotten us a lot of victories.

Yes....while we were being ethical, playing by the rules, extending courtesies to the GOP, and acting according to old school norms, the GOP has gained control of the federal courts, most state legislatures, is in the middle of establishing a dictatorship, and are committing a host of other nefarious acts. This has happened because we play fair with them while THEY SCREW US!

They are baiting us into screwing ourselves, as has happened way too often.

If we head them off and don't let them prevail, maybe we should make sure that we treat them fairly if we consolidate power in the future. I mean, we shouldn't hurt their feelings and treat them unfairly because they have been so fair and have made sure not to hurt our feelings.

The combined wisdom of Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings and others still falls short of your sagacious farrago of foresight.

Keyboard quarterbacking and ranting doesn't make the case for that conclusion.

You offer no real solutions, just anger and blame. If you just need to blow off steam, there are other outlets.

7. What do you want to be done? If you're looking at the "losses", I suspect you're referring....

....to the estimated 1000 state seats lost over 10 years. Well, we regained about 350 of those seats, way more than the actual 900 not 1000, on November 6 last year. I like that kind of "doing nothing"!

Also, have you been watching the news in the last few days?

First, subpoenas have been issued for several people to testify at House committee hearings.
Second, the tactic is to lump all of the refusals to appear into one single House vote, not one for each.
Finally, if you're referring to impeachment proceedings, if Democrats begin those then ALL House investigations will grind to a halt.

So, I ask again, what do you want to be done?

12. What do we want?

We don't know - but whatever it is, they're not doing it, and they should be!

When do we want it?

NOW!!!

8. Well if one only sees "all or nothing" only extremes,

then nuance and strategy is going to be lost on one.

If not going on television and bellowing = "curtsying" then there's really no common basis for reality with which to discuss actual politics.
