Trump takes over national Fourth of July celebration, turning it into a campaign rally...

President Trump has gotten involved in the minutiae of planning the nation’s premier Fourth of July celebration in Washington, moving the gargantuan fireworks display from its usual spot on the Mall and making plans to address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, according to top administration officials.

The president’s heavy involvement and starring role has the potential to turn what has long been a nonpartisan celebration of the nation’s founding into another version of a Trump campaign rally.

gowd. this is so sickening. Trump just is taking over the July 4th celebration. damn. I bet their are a lot of disgusted people right now.

The revised Independence Day celebration is the culmination of two years of attempts by Trump to create a major patriotic event centered on him and his supporters, including failed efforts to mount a military parade modeled on the Bastille Day celebration in France. The new event has become a top priority for new Interior Secretary David Bernhardt, who Trump tasked with the job three months ago, officials said.

It is a sad thing to see other elected leaders abide when they are supposedly sworn to the Constitution.

I'm encouraged by the thought that a great many Americans who've sworn that oath to the Constitution, be it for public or military service, truly meant it and that separation from service hasn't diminished it one bit. I know I meant it when I swore it, still do.
