He was twisting the arm of Don McGahn and trying to get him to say publicly that he did not try to fire Robert Mueller.
Now, he is saying that it was more likely that he would fire McGahn than Mueller?? What a bull shitter!!
He can no longer keep up with his own lies.

(12,864 posts)He doesn't have to.
If we've learned anything by now, it's that Trump can lie incessantly and contradict his own lies without losing any support from the MAGA crowd or his Republican enablers in Congress and the rightwing media.
When you look back you can see the looking glass we psssed through in November 2016. He was then what he is now.

(11,885 posts)As weapons from being exposed for all his crimes, and using it to hold the line in the gop . HE is threatening them too. Eventually he'll turn on them all, then they'll realize how stupid they were trusting him on anything. They will turn on him and he'll try more tricks to bypass them and remove their power from them like he'll do to all of the judicial branch . Does anyone really believe trump alone is smart enough to plan all of this by himself? I sure don't.

(9,426 posts)that is the hold he has over them, plus whatever blackmail material Putin has on the gop politicians. Graham made a fast turn once he golfed with tRump. It was obvious something went on, either he was shown the blackmail material tRump had on him, or he was promised something major. McConnell has always been a traitorous asshole, no big surprise there.

(14,275 posts)They act as if they have been strung along with the promise of personal financial gain offset by threats of blackmail and violence. I suspect the dry rot of the Republican party is much larger than Trump.

(9,090 posts)republicans who might think of deserting him. that was obvious to republicans, even if media and democrats were unaware. going on offense vs limbaugh/rw talk radio would muzzle trump's most important ally and attack dog and encourage republicans in the senate to desert him, deflate republicans in congress trying to derail investigations, and encourage whistleblowers and trump admin to dump and rat on him

(32,639 posts)McGahn wanted to leave the White House staff within 5 months of starting there. Sometime in June 2017 (after starting in Jan. 2017) he was already planning or threatening to resign. He actually did resign after Boofer-Boy got on the SCOTUS. I guess that was the main reason McGahn even wanted to work at the WH.

(37,648 posts)so it's nonsensical to say that Trump would've told McGahn to fire Mueller.
