These selective schools turn away large numbers of great students. She should donate enough to a college to expand the number of students they can admit. The school must agree to increase the number admitted by two students per year in return for enough money to hire an additional faculty member, three additional support staff, an additional dorm room, and financial aid to allow two more students to pay for school. I think it would cost about $20 million.

She/they have the dough.

Alright. Wattabout 'people' of meager or no 'means' having been charged with what should not be considered a 'crime' and then incarcerated for an inordinate amount of time?

Looks like many people of 'means' consider themselves 'untouchable'.

Since I had read that Loughlin was pleading "innocent".. I mean she was caught red handed. And, she's suppose to be this religious person.

Why doesn't she just own up and ask for forgiveness?

The OP is really misplaced, IMO. Celebrating damage to a person who at least admitted to her crime, while not saying a peep about one who apparently thinks that she is above the law.

Felicity was one of the first parents to take responsibility for her actions, and she’ll get past this. She’ll pay a fine that she can afford to pay, and maybe serve a short sentence in a white collar prison. She’s an Oscar-nominated actress, so she might even get acting roles again.

Laughlin thought she was above the law (supposedly she thought the DA was “bluffing”), and she continues to say that she shouldn’t face any consequences. That sort of arrogance could earn her real prison time. And as for a future acting career, hey, she never acted before, why start now?

It never ceases to amaze me how some sense of justice is relativistic. I will give mercy to a person that owned up to a violation and has shown real remorse any day, that isn't being soft, it is just being appreciative of a person's ability to admit wrongdoing and make amends.

I hope that prosecutors go after that Lori actress with all the vengeance of hell, and if she gets 20 years I will feel that SHE earned it with her arrogance.

She voted for trump. If I sensed fear, even if no remorse, I would feel some pity. She just does not inspire empathy.

the focus on this "crime" and the punishment for it is bullshit compared to what Trump and the Republicans are doing to this country. It makes me furious that this is a bigger issue in the media than collusion with the Russians, obstruction of justice, emoluments, money laundering, and the dozens of other crimes that Trump has committed. Our priorities are so fucking out of whack.

is believing that she will be acquitted.

Yes, Huffman did a bad thing, but at least her conscience caught up to her. The other actress has no such problem, there is even speculation that she will be back on the Hallmark show.

I think your grave dancing on Felicity Huffman is misplaced, at least she showed some remorse, unlike the other actress.

The linked article is about Ms. Huffman and my light attempt at humor about a role she played in a TV show.

If I read an interesting article about the other woman, perhaps I'll post about it.

Ms. Huffman deserves her punishment. But in the future, she's going to have to resolve her actions with her daughter, who apparently knew nothing about her mother's actions.

Both were supposedly very good students, one wanted to become a politician.

I don't understand parents who have already given their kids a huge leg up in life trying to tilt the playing field in their kid's favor even more, even when the kids don't want that. No wonder a lot of rich kids turn out screwed up.

She made a huge mistake in pursuing this for her daughters. She did the crime, she should do the time.

Taking responsibility makes her a way better person that the Lori Loughlin's of the world, who are all trying to squirm out of culpability.

I think the woman that paid something like $6 plus million for her kids pled out and has admitted to her role, though she claims that when she raised questions about helping her kids, she was told the money that she was shelling out would be used to help underprivileged kids get into and stay in elite colleges. I don't know whether what she says in fact happened, but she seemed earnest when she talked about what went on, that may be why she paid out so much when compared to everyone else.
