It's just that simple. It's just that disgusting. It's just that maddening. And it is just that obvious.

(16,785 posts)The Pentagon's over bloated budget should suffice.
Rescind the $1.5 Trillion tax cut .
There will be marches in the streets unseen since Vietnam. Iran is a sophisticated nation with thousands of years of history in warfare. The Persian Empire could not best a United Greece, but they conquered a lot of territory in the process. A war with Iran would be folly and kill tens of thousands of Americans. Trump wants blood on his hands while he goes golfing in Florida every weekend.

(32,640 posts)for that war....
And one voted for military intervention in Iraq twice in 1998...
In 1998 Sanders voted in favor of the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, which said: It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime.
Later that same year, Sanders also backed a resolution that stated: Congress reaffirms that it should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime.

Congress needs to reinstate the draft, now.
No, Congress doesn't need to reinstate the draft!!!

(6,535 posts)and the fact that Iran has been on Netanyahu's hit list for going on 25 years now or something (since his first tenure as prime minister in the '90s), and that the PNAC crew never quite finished their agenda after their "window of opportunity" with 9/11, etc.

Putin backed Assad in Syria because he favors an Iran/Iraq gas pipeline that has to go through Syria and on to Europe.
Trump probably has one of the hardest decisions of his presidency to make; Bibi and MBS are pulling on one of his arms and Putin is pulling on the other.

(16,179 posts)Tough talk and threats, actions against them that are less than all-out war, makes hawks against Iran (and Venezuela) happy, but a consequence is that it destroys any internal desire within Iran (and Venezuela) to align better with the U.S., thus driving Iran (and Venezuela) ever closer to Russia.

(10,170 posts)when Putin stepped in, suddenly we don't hear so much about attacking Venezuela.
This is just so predictable.

(11,885 posts)Do they want to get a larger hold on oil reserves world wide? Putin is all about taking a larger scale of resources anywhere he can, and have others working doing that for him. Aluminium , oil, and other much needed resources to control . Its also a welcomed distraction for them both , and away from russia and putin , and like Bush did with Iraq. Make up stuff to use to attack , and claim they had no choice. His lies will be very much the same as W Bush did to invade Iraq with. His claims they are threatening us is the opposite of the truth, he's doing everything he can to threaten them, and start another un-needed war , again, and again all based on lies and will drive the debt up even higher causing interest rates to skyrocket up, costing us even more. Is putin using trump to set us up now for failures in many area's including our economy, and national security?

(92,190 posts)Iran, it won't cover-up trump's f**k-ups.
With the trade war, (which doesn't just affect China and the U.S. but our European allies, along with North Korea, a war with Iran would be a disaster, and it is naïve to believe that it would just involved Iran. The entire middle east would explode.
I also do not believe the American people would support it, and that would show up in the upcoming election, along with a faltering economy due to higher prices that will result from his trade war

(4,341 posts)Iran is very well prepared, it is not an Iraq. This would be the buffoon's worst mistake, even bigger than Iraq was for the other buffoon GW. It seems the "Trump Party" is full of buffoons, even when it was called the "Republican Party".
Why can't people realize that every time the "Trump Party" is in power the economy goes to crap, we get into useless badly planned wars and are never greeted as liberators.
If there is anyone with any brains in this administration, Venezuela should be the target, that is the easiest win for them, it would be as easy as when GHW went to Granada, but because they don't have brains and the orders from their boss, Putin, are contradictory to that, they may end up engaging in another monumental war where the odds of succeeding are not good.
This will try the military, do they have any sense? will they hold their patriotic hearts to refuse going there? We shall see.

(16,785 posts)For to sacrifice tens of thousands of Americans for Trump's ego would be telling. The number of injured would wipe out those from Afghanistan and Iraq. Thee will be marches in the streets for sure by Americans and Vwteran's groups.
A war with Iran would also see gas prices spike well into the $4 per or more per gallon because of the Persian Gulf would be closed.
Trump's folly.

(10,021 posts)Trump uses such threats to watch everyone go into a frenzy. It proves to himself that he does have power to disrupt and destabilize....much like when he manipulates the stock market and world economy with talks of trade wars and tariffs and demands on the Fed. Perfect time to make some easy money for himself and "friends".
Disaster capitalism with a boost to Trump's ego is the goal.

(4,608 posts)as National Security Adviser I said to myself. "We'll be in a war sometime and somewhere soon --- Venezuela, Iran, N. Korea --- fill in the blank." Totally depressing. Bolton is ALWAYS champing at the bit to start and engage in war and now Trump needs a massive diversion.
