Nothing he has done has hurt his approval rating. And nothing he does will improve it either. His base will continue their adoration. The rest of the country will see through the charade. The Repubs all ready give him everything he wants. The Dems never will. It will change little except the number of human beings killed in the world because of the actions of this country.

the authorization is still in effect and could be spun to authorize war against iranian terrorists (such as the freshly designated republican guard.)

we did a little better on the 2002 authorization, but 82 dems in the house, nd 29 dem senators, voted to authorize the war in iraq.

Trump wasn't elected by his base. He was elected by the rank&file Republicans who voted for him because of who his opponent was. These folks are not in favor for any kind of war, and in reality, wish some other (R) was President. Military action with scores of dead Americans puts his approval rating below 30% overnight.

W's approval rating was about twice Trump's after the attack. Trump may need a 9/11 type event to increase his support for war with Iran. Absent something like that, I don't see him just starting a war helping him. I hate to say or think it, but maybe Saudi Arabia will help him there. It looks like something is already brewing.
