the shelter of the softer-edged term "progressive" and as someone who has worn his large-print "LIBERAL" tee shirt to Tea Party rallies, I am a little bit annoyed with some of the "young liberals" who consider themselves aggrieved if another Democrat doesn't worship at the altar of their Chosen One. If you can't take criticism---deserved and otherwise---and you aren't up to defending your views with facts and reason, you sure as hell picked the wrong ideology and the wrong discussion board.
Be a "young" liberal or a "new", "green", "socialist" or "extreme" liberal. Just don't be a "whiny-ass" liberal.
Thank you.

(5,546 posts)And have used it to describe myself quite often.
But I actually prefer the term Progressive and don't consider it a weak sister in any way. I think of it as connoting modern thinking on liberal causes.
I am 52 so it might be just a sign of the era.
In any event, I am 100% with you on the whiney-ass part.
