Just looking at the Alabama Tourism Facebook page

It appears that the comments are indicating many folks will be making other choices in their future vacation and travel plans.

Might be worth adding your thoughts to the discussion. It is called Sweet Home Alabama a quick search on Facebook for Alabama Department of Tourism makes it an easy find.

being 10 years old coming back home from Disney world, and we stopped for lunch at a little place in Alabama. There was an employee behind the counter serving up plates of food and she had a cigarette in her mouth while doing it. That image has always summed up Alabama in my brain. I'm surprised people visit that state on purpose.

My apologies to the Alabama DU'ers.

Space and Rocket Center. Now that we've been there I don't see us ever going back to Alabama, although my dad had been trying to get us to visit Dauphin Island. Guess I won't be going back to Savannah either...

Fort Gaines is on the East end and is a cool visit just because of the history. Next to Fort Gaines is a Sea Lab that does research on Gulf birds and sea life/wildlife and that's pretty cool. Otherwise, DI is essentially a sand bar. It's quiet and quaint, but you look out to views of oil rigs and shrimp boats. We go there nearly every year because that's where our extended family has always gathered for a week in the summer, but you're not missing much honestly.

I have already determined I am not giving another dime to my alma mater (auburn) unless/until the law is changed (may not happen in my lifetime).

Regarding just what you mentioned. Might be hard to accomplish for some depending on routes, mileage etc, but it all counts.

I really want to buy a ticket for my nephew on his ninth birthday. He’s nuts about science, space, and math. But it’s in Alabama. As much as I know he’d love to go, I can’t do it in good conscience.

The job was supposed to be in suburban Chicago, but the recruiter began the conversation by saying the job would now be in Hunstville, AL.
I politely explained that there is no amount of money that would convince me to move to a red state, especially Alabama

After bonuses were announced, I submitted 2-weeks notice on Monday.
I'm in sales, so they paid me two weeks wages and released me (rather than have me go on a farewell tour).
Also received $1,100 in contest money, $3,200 quarterly bonus, plus payout for two-weeks accrued vacation.
New gig starts Monday!
