Maybe that is a potential answer to the problem that is about to deprive women of their reproductive choice in many states. It would accept donations of cash and frequent flyer miles. It would provide free flights and lodging, and cover medical costs for women from "Heartbeat Law" states to come to states where women's reproductive choice is available as the normal standard of decency.
Until such laws are overturned or repealed by future state legislatures, something like this will be needed. More's the pity.
I'm not competent to set up such a thing. Perhaps an organization like NARAL could do it as part of its commitment to reproductive choice. I will support such a fund.

(22,512 posts)The National Network of Abortion Funds is the place to start to find information about funds in your own state: https://abortionfunds.org/
If people are interested in directly helping people who want abortions, now, donating to one of these funds -- or the national fund, to aid coordination -- is the way to go.

(17,658 posts)...the ad for a trip to NY to meet up with a supportive person scared me a bit. I hope no one takes them up on it. These 'aunts' need to be vetted. These women could be walking into an attack..you know how dangerously unhinged these maggots can get. Also safety for the drivers as well.. to make sure the client is an actual client and not some nutter like the guy who took down ACORN.
Im all for a very hushed up Underground Railroad with vetted supporters and safe houses established along given routes so women can be safely transported to get their health care.
Ages ago i arranged and participated in CUR runs...Canine Underground Railroad.. volunteers would sign up to provide a leg of transportation for a rescued dog who would be re-homed a distance away. Several people would pick up the leg and drive as far as they could with maybe an overnight foster home or two in-between especially if it was cross country. Altho these were all above board once in awhile we would transport an animal from a very abusive or neglectful home. Sometimes they were whisked away during the dead of night so their destination would be kept unknown.
Both sides need to be carefully vetted.
