Giuliani says Trump is 'doing the right thing' by resisting congressional subpoenas

President Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani said the president "is doing the right thing" by ignoring congressional subpoenas.

"There are six different investigations...thousands of requests for documents, it's like they're falling all over themselves," Giuliani said of House Democrats who are probing the Trump administration.

"So the president is doing the right thing in resisting their subpoenas, not because he doesn't want to cooperate, he cooperated with the special counsel...we just don't want to do it over again," he added in an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis that aired Sunday on AM 970 in New York.

The White House this week rejected a House Judiciary Committee subpoena for documents related to communications between the president and former White House counsel Don McGahn; former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's resignation; former FBI Director James Comey's firing; the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting; and any communications on the potential firing of special counsel Robert Mueller, among other topics.

if you don't want to do it over again? Rudy, if someone had resisted one of your subpoenas, telling you that they didn't want to comply because they'd already answered some questions elsewhere, would you have said, "Oh, OK, never mind; sorry to have bothered you?"

No, he did NOT “fully cooperate.” Trump refused to give an in-person interview, and gave inadequate written responses, in Mueller’s view.

Mueller tried for more than a year to personally talk to the Trump — but he was ultimately turned down. Thus, Mueller finally agreed to accept Trump’s written answers to questions. And even those were evasive, or just a plain “fuck you.” Mueller noted that Trump declined to answer questions about obstruction of justice, or questions on events that occurred during the presidential transition.
