Mac RumorsMicrosoft today announced the launch of a preview or canary build of its Microsoft Edge browser designed for the macOS operating system.
Microsoft Edge for macOS can be installed from the Microsoft Edge Insider site on compatible Macs.
Microsoft first unveiled plans to bring the Microsoft Edge browser to the Mac at its annual Build developer conference in Seattle, held on May 6. Shortly after, a canary version of the browser appeared on Microsoft's site, but it was not made officially available until today.
According to Microsoft, Edge on the Mac will be quite similar to the Edge experience on Windows, but with "user experience optimizations" to make it "feel at home on a Mac." The overall look and feel of the browser will be tailored to match "what macOS users expect" from Mac apps.

(146,288 posts)3. I used it once on my Windows 10 machine right after
I first set it up. I used it to download Google Chrome. After I synched Chrome, I have never used Edge again. I see it down there on my task bar, though. I never used Internet Exploder, either.
Does anyone use Edge? Why?

"Hey Bob, I finally found a good use for Edge... to download Chrome!"

It so I WONT EVER HAVE TO USE WINDOWS AGAIN. Don't sell me Vista and call it Edge.

I build my computers out of trash and use Linux.
When I'm not at my desk I use my Chromebook which cost me less than many people pay for an Apple earpod and charger set.
I won't use Windows unless someone is paying me.

Sure enough...

Microsoft Edge: Making the web better through more open source collaboration
By Joe Belfiore / Corporate Vice President, Windows
For the past few years, Microsoft has meaningfully increased participation in the open source software (OSS) community, becoming one of the worlds largest supporters of OSS projects. Today were announcing that we intend to adopt the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility for our customers and less fragmentation of the web for all web developers.

Now, please GO AWAY.
I am more than happy with my Mac and have no need of whatever version of Windows is currently not working.
