Federal judge sides with House Oversight Democrats on subpoena for Trump financial records

US. District Court Judge Amit Mehta on Monday ruled that President Donald Trump must abide by a Congressional subpoena for the president’s financial records.

The judge said Trump’s attorneys “have not raised a ‘serious legal question[] going to the merits.'”

We'll see what Trump et al do. But judges don't take kindly to having their orders ignored, and they can send officers to enforce their orders.

It doesn't actually set a precedent but it will be used by the Dems to be able to move forward in other cases.

(Seems unlikely though).

Trump's side could also appeal to a higher court.

What happend if Donald Trump refuses a federal court order:

11. This subpoena in question is to the accounting form Mazars

Mazars previously stated they will provide the requested records. The only tears here will be on the Twitter throne.

I'm guessing Trump et. al. will appeal to the First Circuit. If so, I hope Merrick Garland in one of the appellate judges.

...the President is subject to the same legal standard as any other litigant that does not prevail," Mehta wrote.
