Tweets from Representatives of Congress calling for Impeachment Hearings

Last edited Thu May 23, 2019, 12:43 PM - Edit history (13)

David Cicilline: If Don McGahn does not testify tomorrow, it will be time to begin an impeachment inquiry of @realDonaldTrump.

Maxine Waters: "We're going to have to do it, we're going to have to impeach. I just wish it was sooner than later." @MaxineWaters on #Hardball.

Eric Swalwell: It’s time to begin impeachment proceedings against AG Barr. He prejudged the report, falsely accused the FBI of spying, lied to Congress, and missed a subpoena deadline. At every step he has acted as Trump’s lawyer, when he’s sworn to be America’s. He must go. #ImpeachBarr

Sheila Jackson Lee: ...But a thoughtful, reasonable next step is a Resolution of Investigation, tied to the ultimate result of the Congress exercising its impeachment powers. That will be the announced method of educating the American public - no matter the party...

Mark Pocan: Stonewalling Congress on witnesses and the unredacted Mueller report only enhances the President’s appearance of guilt, and as a result, he has pushed Congress to a point where we must start an impeachment inquiry.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: We need to do our job & vote on impeachment. What Sen does is on them.

Pamila Jayapal: We are now at the point where we must begin an impeachment inquiry. I don't say that lightly. We've taken every step we can w/subpoenas and witnesses. Trump obstructs everything. A president who thinks he's king, accountable to nobody & ,above the law is absolutely unacceptable.

Ilhan Omar: Opening an impeachment inquiry is not an act we should undertake out of political expediency.
It is something we should do to uphold the rule of law and Constitution of the United States.

Diana De Gette: The facts laid out in the Mueller report, coupled with this administration’s ongoing attempts to stonewall Congress, leave us no other choice: It is time for Congress to officially launch an impeachment inquiry against the President of the United States.

on edit: Adding more as I find them.

Yes, the first step is the hearings. We can't impeach without hearings to show why. TreasonousBastard May 2019 #3

I'm glad. They need to sort it out among themselves. I was reading Pelosi's tweets in the past few hours and no matter what subject she posted on, the responses were 99.9 % shouting, begging, pleading, demanding, defending impeachment hearings now. The dam seems to be breaking.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing high-level pressure as some top democrats in her caucus are now privately lobbying her to start impeachment hearings. The reporting comes as former White House counsel Don McGahn is refuses to comply with a subpoena for testimony. Member of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Cohen, sheds light on the conversations around impeachment among congressional Democrats, telling MSNBC Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber that “80-90%” of the Judiciary Committee “is on board to go forward” with impeachment.
