(43,356 posts)1 Trump will be taken out via the election in 2020, and the investigations just make him look worse (without the risks of imeachment blowback.. see number two)
2 I think she honestly believes that with the Senate never voting to convict and remove, we Dems will get massive blowback from the voters if we get out over our skis, plus an impeachment will supercharge Rump's base and may drag back swing voters to his camp
3 The 'wild card' play (on the side).... she just keeps ratcheting up the investigations and pressure (whilst never officially starting impeachment enquiries) and maybe Trump just snaps and truly goes insane and tries some crazy shit that even the Rethugs say, oki, oki, he has got to go
the last one is risky, as his 'crazy shit' may involve nuking Iran

(108,978 posts)Nancy has never refused to impeach. She is working hard right now to collect the evidence she will need to impeach the President and convince the majority of the people, even if McConnell ends up blocking a Senate trial.
There's no point in quickly impeaching him, and watching McConnell block him. If we were to act now, there would be more than a year left before the election. More than a year for impeachment to have become a dim memory for much of the public.
Timing is everything. Nancy has never said she wouldn't allow impeachment. Just not now.
