Martin Bashir's production values are spectacular

His constant video-montages are unusually well put together and clever. The whole timing of the show is crisp.

Impressive for an afternoon news hour.

Meanwhile, Hardball (which I enjoy a lot for its retro quality) is, to this day, like something from 1955. The graphics often don't match the script. (Polls in particular) They go to tape than never rolls, or is the wrong tape. Frequent dead-air with tweety staring into space. The "Sideshow" cartoon is a mess.

Since they are back-to-back and Hardball can't have a lower budget, it presumably all comes from the top—who you hire and what you demand of them.

I now think he is toe to toe with Rachel as the best MSNBC has to offer. I like Larrry O and Ed --and certainly Tweety (fat least or TODAY) as well, but do think that Rachel and Bashir lead the pack.
