THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON NY HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
UNION COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY...
RICHMOND COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK...

* UNTIL 1015 PM EDT.

* AT 933 PM EDT, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO
WAS LOCATED OVER BASKING RIDGE, OR NEAR MORRISTOWN, MOVING
SOUTHEAST AT 30 MPH.

HAZARD...TORNADO.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

IMPACT...FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT
SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
DAMAGE TO ROOFS, WINDOWS, AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE
DAMAGE IS LIKELY.

* THIS DANGEROUS STORM WILL BE NEAR...

CLARK AND UNION AROUND 955 PM EDT.

A surprise tornado in DC saved the capitol in the war of 1812. There have been tornadoes in Philly and the suburbs in the past 50 years too.

uprooted trees, smashed cars and buildings and knocked out power for 4 days. A tree in our main yard was ripped up and thrown against the front door. It was a weird time, on the last day as we were headed to a community center for ice the electricity came back on.
