(15,543 posts)By being officious and wishy washy, and never mentioning Congress, he did a dis-service.
America needs clarity. He didn't give it.
The MIGHTY & FOUL republican-russian propaganda machine will now spew endlessly to twist Mueller's vagueness even further.

(7,142 posts)they are all calling for impeachment. Even Brett Bahr and Wallace on Fox stated that what Mueller just said contradicts what Barr has been saying. Trump is losing Fox News. He at least lost Bahr and Wallace.

(15,265 posts)'If we had had confidence that' President Trump 'clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so'
This has to mean that they found that he did commit a. crime and did not have the moral fortitude to say so. He has and is doing an injustice to justice.
watoos
(7,142 posts)That's not his rationale. He doesn't want to accuse the president of a crime because the president would have no ability to defend himself since no charges would have been filed. Mueller even said that everyone is innocent until proven guilty so it wouldn't be fair for him to say that Trump committed a crime. Something like what Comey did to Hillary right before the election, she had no time or way to defend herself.

Mueller and company shirked their responsibilities. There were conclusions that clearly should hace been made and were not.

(348 posts)He said loud and clear today:
"And second, the opinion says that the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing."
As a professional, he could not have been more clear than in that statement that Congress needs to do its job and impeach Trump.

(22,669 posts)An Impeachment inquiry has no requirement to impeach as a result. However, the inquiry will give congress broader powers to investigate and make a determination based on the results of that inquiry, basically impune Cult45 and his GOP enablers to the Nth degree leading up to the 2020 GE. Then upon the evidence they can make their decision to impeach or not, while dragging MFing Rusky Red Republicans through the mud.
