They couldn't SAY that Doc So-and-so might have been okay in the military -- in his younger days -- but maybe was not the best guy to put a 90 y.o. lady under the knife in the here and now. No no, they could not SAY that, despite his being in a hurry to do it.

But they certainly managed to convey the message loud and clear. So we moved Ma home soon after that, and the next doc she saw was our family physician, and she did not have surgery.
