I shouldn't even post an excerpt. Kudos tho to the Washington Post's Stephanie McCrummen for wading thru the muck of evangelical authoritarianism.
Meanwhile, Phyllis Schlafly, the conservative icon from St Louis, has stood by Akin. But what else did you expect from Schlafly of "By getting married, the woman has consented to sex, and I don't think your can call it rape" fame?

(23,156 posts)rape never occurs.
That still leaves thousands and thousands of rapes outside of marriage. Oh, I get it. For someone like Schafly and every other idiot conservative, any woman who is raped was by definition asking for it.

(24,764 posts)That explains it all. Self-hating wingnut women are stupid, so much so that when we try to reason with them, they dig in their heels and cling to their happy slavery bullshit.
No anger issues here, she said to the man still looking for the Romney bumper sticker.
A band was starting to play Willie Nelson songs, barbecue smoke was in the air and kids were in the moon bounce, and Barnes, who is 60, was in good spirits.
The more they attack, the more I dig my heels in, she said, defending views that she traces back to a civics teacher who had students vote in the 1964 presidential election between Republican Barry Goldwater and the Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson. Barnes, 12, picked Goldwater.
Notice that they're mostly old. No bullshit detector. They're the same ones who'd easily fall for scams liberating them from their bank accounts, too.

(28,158 posts)They love him and his anti-woman ways. I'm imagining a very religious fundamentalist population in his district. One where women are raised to "know their place."
A district is a whole different political entity than a state.

(1,370 posts)After discussing if they should fold it properly. Perfect.
Rules are for others. They use their patriotism in the same way they use their religion, as a weapon, a battering ram to abuse and belittle others. That whole piece was filled with them nattering on about what was wrong with other people and yet Sharon "women impregnated by rape have been given a gift from God" Barnes humped her way through a series of jobs till she found boss who would marry her and she thinks all poor people should survive on a diet of peanut butter and crackers because she imagines that she once did. She IS the perfect Akin groupie.
