Barr makes this clear today: he didn't simply misinterpret Mueller, he overruled him

This is a BIG deal:

1. Barr lied when he said he “interpreted” Mueller’s findings to mean there was no crime.
2. Barr actually OVERRULED Mueller’s findings—all in an attempt to wrongly clear Trump of any crimes.
3. Barr is part of Trump’s cover-up.

Barr makes this clear today: he didn’t simply misinterpret Mueller, he overruled him- “WE DIDN’T AGREE WITH THE LEGAL ANALYSIS..IT DID NOT REFLECT THE VIEWS OF THE DEPARTMENT. IT WAS THE VIEWS OF PARTICULAR LAWYER OR LAWYERS, AND SO WE APPLIED WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS THE RIGHT LAW.”

5. I'm confused. If Mueller was prohibited from asserting any criminal findings based on the

OLC opinion, wouldn't Barr, under the OLC opinion, be prohibited from making a finding that Trump is blameless?

7. The Purpose Of The Special Counsel Law

Is to take these matters out of the hands of the conflicted Attorney General so in overruling Mueller in this manner he has neutered the Special Counsel statute by dismissing 2 years of work in a matter of days. Here, Barr himself, has obstructed justice it seems. While doing this he has also implied that Mueller a stupid lawyer against the evidence of numerous convictions of Trump people. Indeed, if Barr felt Mueller was so sloppy with the application of law one would assume that Barr would also disagree with the decision to charge many/most of those that Mueller obtained convictions and Manafort comes to mind here. Yes, someone needs to ask Barr if he feels Mueller misapplied the law in the Manafort case and if so either why or what the differences were between the 10 obstruction examples and the Manafort case. This can of worms statement just tightens the noose around Barr's neck.

And if they are agreeing to conditions in order to get the interview that practice needs to stop.

Barr asserts that Mueller applied the wrong laws on obstruction and that he applied the right laws. The obvious followup question would be which statutes did Mueller apply, why were they the wrong statutes and which statutes did you apply that were the right statutes and why.


CBS bailed Barr out here, leaving the American people in the dark. There was no compare and contrast to his prior statements and the differences between then and now. And there was certainly no meaningful followup to what Barr was now claiming but not supporting. CBS, you stink.
