They are calling for a boycott of Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo. No joke.

A conservative Christian organization is outraged by an offensive shampoo ad that featured lesbians and has launched a campaign against the company.
One Million Moms (OMM) is an initiative of the America Family Association and focuses on media that it deems inappropriate for children, often because it shows LGBTQ people.
They are frequently outraged that LGBTQ people exist and that artists, media corporations, and advertisers choose to acknowledge that fact every now and then. And this week theyre angry at this cute Head & Shoulders ad, which shows a lesbian couple at prom.
To hear OMM describe the ad, the lesbians were having sex in front of the C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N.

(15,392 posts)Another entity whose only choice will be to submit, remove the ad, and publicly get baptized at a church of OMM's choosing!
They've already crushed Ellen Degeneres, Marvel, and Campbell's Soup. Now Head and Shoulders will surely fall beneath their might!

These OMM idiots and their current attack in LGBTQ should be treated separately and seriously but there is a history of stupid accusations abot P&G

(62,444 posts)Brands love this kind of controversy.
The very people who would be most likely to wonder "gee, what happens when all the chemicals in this product get into our rivers and bays" are so put off by the reaction of religious morons to the ad, that they skip wondering about what's in this stuff to the extent that they will circulate the ad on social media and earn goodwill for the brand FOR FREE!
Bravo.
Zinc pyrithione, Resorcinol, Ketoconazole...? Meh. Who the fuck knows or cares what those things might be or do.

(1,480 posts)They come up with more disgusting visuals than any TV ad could contemplate. I sometimes wonder if they get off on it.

(67,112 posts)really. A psychological profile would be very interesting IMO as to what is revealed. Most healthy people IMO do not obsess with others private lives and their sexual behavior, linking it to hatred and going on crusades. It's all really weird behavior IMO.
