If impeachment causes us to lose in 2020 so be it. It's as though we lost in 2018 right now.

We seem to have no power with what we won or at least we act as though we have no power.

If impeachment is not upheld in the Senate, so what. Trump will still have to win in 2020 and I just do not believe that a solid majority of the voters will vote for him. If they do and we win the Senate and keep the House, we can impeach him again.

And losing an impeachment vote would even be worse. Until Nancy can be sure that an impeachment vote will even pass, it would be idiotic to force a vote now.

If there are grounds for an impeachment vote then who cares in the Senate doesn't vote to convict?

If the evidence is good enough and the GOP controlled Senate still refuses to dispense justice, then they will show the whole country that they are partisan scum protecting their criminal.

I don't see how that would bode well for any of them in the next election.

2. One of the reasons
Mon Jun 3, 2019, 11:40 PM
Jun 2019

that I am for impeachment now is because of the courts. Trump/Barr are stonewalling everything, ignoring requests for documents, ignoring subpoenas, refusing a federal judges order to release Flynn evidence.

Democrats have no one to interview, they are interviewing John Dean for god's sake. This is going to be decided in the courts. Trump/Barr don't even want to win the court cases, they want them delayed until the election. Democrats want the courts to expedite decisions before election time. Republicans will have a pretty good argument in the courts not to expedite since Democrats are taking their time going for impeachment. Republicans can claim that Democrats are just carrying out a witch hunt against Trump, that they have no evidence to impeach him. Starting an impeachment inquiry would disprove the Republican argument.

Can't ask the Dems here to hurry, or you're bashing Dems. The gop does whatever the F they like, wo consequences. Congress/Senate gets paid the long dollar so, no hurry in their giddy up. They haven't walked a mile in most of our shoes, probably ever. They all have crisp, benefit laden jobs. Really seems the urgency is lacking, until they need us to vote. 4 wasted years of our lives, but get excited when they need something. I need Congressional justice, then we can talk about a vote....16 months away.

We were elected to deal with pocket-book issues that voters cared about.

I met with 40-50 candidates in the last cycle. None of them said that voters were talking about Trump / Russia / Impeachment.

The vast majority of House red to blue flips came in moderate districts where Democrats campaigned on healthcare, jobs and average Joe issues while leaving Trump completely out of it.

Many reps are reporting that calls to impeach increase everyday. Plus, it’s just the right thing to do. Trump’s criminality must be historically documented even if we can’t convict him. That’s my opinion anyway.

Our power is the process of following The Law, whether people are comfortable with that or not.

This is delay of gratification time, and it's part of the adult long game.

You're right about the vote.

I don't know about the part about impeaching him after that. But we'll see.

one of the powers of having majority is just being able to prevent things from coming up for a vote.

if Republicans controlled the house they would have that power.
