The Republican Party - a serious synopsis of what they stand for.

A really good read at the link - Written at "my" level..... suitable for passing on the working folks in your life who say they will vote for Romney. Puts it all in 2 short pages

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/romneys-challenge-preserving-gilded-age-privilege/2012/08/28/de5f3700-f11a-11e1-892d-bc92fee603a7_story.html

........Rep. Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s running mate and tea party poster boy, said he was happy that Republicans had slashed spending on FEMA......Not! In fact, Republican governors called on President Obama for emergency aid. Gov Jindal criticized the federal government for not doing enough, even after Obama declared a national emergency.

........Opposition to abortion with no exceptions, even for rape or incest, not even for “legitimate” or “forcible” rape,” which Rep. Ryan calls a “method of conception.”

........Or the dog-whistle racism over work requirements in welfare, now a centerpiece of dishonest and tawdry Romney ads. No wonder Romney garnered a well-earned 0 percent of African Americans’ votes in a recent poll.

.........Romney is running on a policy that will raise taxes on working families and lower them on the rich

In Tampa, the tea party gets its anti-government, anti-immigrant planks in the platform, and the Christian Coalition its war on women; but the big money is pouring in to support the praetorian guard of privilege at the top of the ticket.

Look, I'm as guilty as anyone for whipping out the stereotypes when feeling particularly frustrated. The Republicans have been very good at playing working people against each other to the point where we've stopped respecting and trusting each other.

A good number of "Fox Viewers" won't ever be reached. They are too tired of fighting economically and have retreated into whatever their wedge issue is. But 99% of this country has been losing ground for most of my adult life and it's getting worse exponentially faster.

For all my snotty posts about Republicans on the DU, at the end of the day I want to have an honest conversation with people who haven't been to college, won't ever get to college, may not even be college material, and show them it's time to stop letting the 1% play us against each other and start thinking carefully about the economics.

Edit to fix the subject line.
