LOL! sad, sad republicans

so a friend of a friend is a delegate at the Repuke convention. He is an old style, "reasonable" repub. He told my friend he has been taking it easy and reading the books he brought - it is like a vacation. She suggested he go to the Dali Musem, and he replied he would have to learn the public transportation as a cab was kind of pricey. She said why don't you find a couple other people to go with. His reply: "You don't understand, they are all republicans"

We decided he should go down to the Ron Paul convention as at least they might be having some parties. The current crop of repukes are so filled with uptight xtian assholes even the national convention is boring.

which is nearby the convention. Also nearby is the Davis Islands "downtown" district which has several good eateries and cozy bars. Not too far is SoHo district (South Howard Ave), also popular with locals.
A couple places a bit further away are Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe, and Skipper's Smokehouse, which are local favorites for food, drink, and music. Skipper's is particularly funky and swampy.
Yes, Dali and other St Pete museums are far, but worth the trip. Downtown St Pete also has some good cafes, resturants, and bars.
Probably have to rent a car, but the Ringling Museum in Sarasota is definitely worth a visit.

Luckily I was staying with a friend who had just moved to Tampa and had never been to the museum so we went there.
