This Memo is from June, 2012. The Third way frequently sends out anti-democratic, anti-progressive talking point propaganda memos of a similar nature. A primary agenda of the Third Way is to make cuts to the social safety net programs that have been the bejeweled legacy of FDR's New Deal. I don't know how these the Third Way could be considered Democrats, except in name only, and they are definitely not progressives. They are what they call themselves: a Third Way - dedicated to injecting what are unmistakably GOP policies that only serve and advance the agenda of wealthy private interests, into the Democratic platform. I believe it is extremely important for newer DUers to understand what the Third Way is, and why all progressives on DU totally detest the Third Way. They do not have our best interests as a motivation for their behavior. Their agenda is solely to serve the wealthiest people on the planet - those who are now commonly called the 1%. Their intent is to corrupt the Democratic Party, so that the Democratic Party cannot effectively forward the populist progressive agenda of the majority of Americans - now commonly known as the 99% - We the People.

In this memo, we argue that this moment represents the best time for Democrats
to set in motion—and ultimately achieve—a balanced, bipartisan grand bargaindeal.
Priorities: Ignoring entitlements guarantees higher taxes on the middle
class.
It is mathematically impossible to preserve our current path for Medicare,
Medicaid, and Social Security without a blistering tax increase on the working age
middle class at some point in the near future.
Whether or not one would support any of these tax hikes individually, this list
makes it clear that there is no realistic path to obtaining the revenue necessary to
finance the big three entitlements by taxing the wealthy alone. The brutal economic
reality is thatit is not possible to leave entitlements untouched and expect the middle
class to remain unscathed. Today’s delay on entitlement reform only ensures a steeper
tax hike for the middle class tomorrow.

Please vote for the most progressive Democratic candidates in your Democratic primary elections. I got lucky this year and got to vote for a very Progressive Dem, who was also involved in Occupy, in our Dem primary.
