I'm getting depressed.... I feel like evil is winning...

This can't really be how it all ends up right?
I can't imagine that this many crimes - humanitarian crimes, financial crimes, election crimes, sexual crimes....I mean my God he's committed almost every type of crime there is!

Is this it? How in the hell do we hold our heads high anymore? How do we act like America is a great country anymore?

Jesus Christ this is fucking horrific!!

The corruption runs so deep..... It seems like at least half the Republican party if not more is part of it..... How the fuck do we get out of this situation??

I cannot believe that another country can install their choice as president and there is literally nothing we can do about it but vote him out which they'll make sure that doesn't happen anyway .... can this fucker really do whatever he want and all the rest of them too?

I can't handle this shit......

21 Lessons for the 21st Century is a book written by bestseller Israeli author Yuval Noah Harari and published in August 2018

It goes into what we are all going through with these changes and what we have to do. We are not blind. We have the outlines of a plan.

But reality has been a harsh mistress.

It not unreasonable to believe that he will use Iran to declare marshal law and suspend elections. He has been given cover by Republicans to do anything he wants with complete impunity.

"On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons From The Twentieth Century"

$7.95.

It will give you essential information for this moment.

But I can't understand why you are willing to accept personal or Democratic blame for this. We were attacked by a foreign adversary, and we have been under attack by RW for more than forty years, using every propaganda tool possible to conquer enlightenment.

It is what it is. What we do about it is (from the words of Paul Wellstone): "Stand up! Keep fighting!"

I almost did back in the Bush 43 years.

It’s true that this here is the absolutely worst president in history, but we gotta fight back. It’s all we have.

But we hope and fight. We still have the House. And if we vote in enough numbers, we get back the Senate and a Democrat as President.

I stop listening to the news or spending as much time in DU. I take a break and do things I like to do. Take a walk and listen to the sounds of everything. Reconnect with your hobbies and talents. Watch movies. Enjoy mundane things. Do some gardening. Plant flowers.

It will help a lot. There’s no need to be steeped in this shit all the time. It’ll still be here when you get your mood stabilized.

We will win back our country because evil never really wins, I know how you feel because you have chosen the better politics.
I have a cousin who is a pod person he and I both used to think alike because we grew up together and we still are very close but his politics have turned him into something I don't recognize.
He listens to Rush and Sean everyday even when we are out via his ear phone.
He repeats the lies to me as if they were gospel and when you point out how implausible his regurgitation of false facts are he throws a hissy.
anyway we try to avoid politics he knows what I believe and he is bothered when I tell him why he believes what he believes.
anyway take heart and remember the eleventh commandment Thou shalt not get away with it.

Sat Jun 22, 2019, 02:42 AM

There are many possible attributions for this quote, but the message is timeless.

The rule of law is under attack from many fronts, foreign and domestic. The fastest way to fix it would be unlawful - summary arrests, trials and removal from office.

The minute you do that, you are further damaging the rule of law. The only way to enforce the rule of law is to be lawful. The wheels of justice may turn more slowly than what we'd like. But to lay the proper framework for repairs, we must resolve the problems within the letter of the law.

Multiple legal actions are already underway, many of which we cannot see. Just because we cannot see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

While we wait for the specialists to complete their work, we need to make sure that we keep new crooks out of office. Use your despair productively. Find a good candidate and volunteer in some way. While they work from the top down, we have to work from the bottom up.

No time to despair. Courage.

and just get back to normal? When I think about the waste of time, money and effort that will be necessary to put everything to rights again, it makes me I'll.

How do we get the special interest groups, the lobbyists, the religious activists, the foreign influence and the corporate profiteers out of our government?

How do we make sure the court system is staffed by competent, fairminded and nonpartisan judges? Can we stop rightwing groups from writing designer legislation to curry favor with their elite donor lists?

What about our diminished standing among world leaders that were formerly our valued and trusted allies for decades? How to we ever recover our reputation after Trump has revealed the US as a quasi dictatorship in league with the worst despots and tyrants of the world?

I don't know the answers, but it's well past depression when my brain is on overdrive just racking up long lists of all things things we will have to fix before we can even plan to anything new. I won't live long enough to see this wondrous concept of America ever restored.

Sometimes I think the best thing to do is to step away from politics for a while. I will watch movies or go on funny or amusing websites or just go outside and hang out w/ friends (and not talk about politics). It helps when I start to feel overwhelmed with despair.

I mean ffs, we had slavery for ages, then we had widespread racism for another 100+ years, then we had all kinds of government corruption from Nixon/Reagan, unjust wars like Vietnam/Iraq/etc, huge military industrial complex draining all of our funding, etc. In addition, terrible SCOTUS rulings on the commerce clause and Citizens United utterly screwed us. I mean we're great compared to the total hellholes of the world, but I would never say this country was actually 'great' in a legitimate sense.
