Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just saw a TV ad about the evils of Medicare for all.
It was sponsored by an organization called One Nation America, https://www.onenationamerica.org/ They're just exactly what you might think they are.

(92,422 posts)political agenda.
As far as I am aware Discovery Communications is just a profit based entity without an obvious political agenda
Thanks

(15,290 posts)any idea how good medicare is, how efficiently it works or how cheap it is.
My parent had a BCBS medicare advantage (private insurance) plan that we switched to a medicare supplement (medicare pays first and the supplement picks up the difference). Since then, we have no co-pays to see specialists like podiatrist or PT/OT where we had $20 co-pays under medicare advantage.
Medicare is unbelievably good. It's no wonder no one who has it wants to lose it.

(54,770 posts)$125 to $200 for a supplement and a drug plan. But, taxes pay for all the Part A costs -- mostly hospital, other facilities and limited nursing home -- and 75% of the Part B costs. If you end up on Medicaid also say for long-term nursing home over the 100 days Medicare covers, that's all taxes.
Point is, one can't judge cost of Medicare by the monthly Part B premium and supplemental costs.
Personally, I'm for a Public Option -- allowing people to purchase Medicare -- because Medicare-for-All will never pass in this political environment until a significant portion of people have bought Medicare voluntarily. But, the premium for someone buying into to Medicare, at say age 55, is likely to be over $1,000 month. Folks won't see that as cheap.

(15,290 posts)we have had 0 co-pays and the supplement has basically paid for a the very few prescriptions, all but 1 of which are use as needed. The medicare supplement is less than $300/mo on top of medicare part B.

(54,770 posts)people will not have paid Medicare taxes for decades. The Part B payment and the supplement are only a small part of the cost of Medicare.

(15,290 posts)If everyone pays into it, it's going to be cheaper than private insurance.

(6,797 posts)I take it that it was Fox because it was McConnell. Some one said something about Medicare for all and McConnell said it should be Medicare for none. But all republicans think congress won't mess with it.
