Its primary weapon is a 76mm cannon that nobody even manufactures shells for anymore. The cannon's range is 13000 meters, which is considered "point blank" in modern armor doctrine (it's not even over the horizon on flat ground). Its communications and sensors array consists of a single unencrypted whip-antenna FM radio and a pair of binoculars. Its top speed is 25 mph on improved roads (modern tanks go 60 on open terrain) and its operational range is 100 miles (modern tanks go 600). The Sherman tank is as unqualified for the modern battlefield as Trump is for the Presidency.

What you all are missing is that our July 4th celebration in DC really will have brand new Sherman tanks. Trump has a well-known fondness for things from the good old days, and on his first day in office he secretly ordered the Army to resurrect the Sherman. It was supposed to be a surprise, but you know Trump. He just can’t keep a secret.

he probably watched some old WWII video clips showing tanks in Europe during the Memorial Day events. He certainly wouldn't ask a US agency to brief him on modern day warfate because that would be admitting that he was ignorant.

I'm really looking forward to Trump reinstating the mounted horse cavalry. They'd look super all tacked up for a spiffy parade in his honor!
