President Trump lamented the state of American cities in an interview Monday night, describing homelessness as "a phenomena that started two years ago" that is causing public health hazards.
Trump sat for an interview with Tucker Carlson during his trip to South Korea over the weekend. The Fox News host observed that cities in Japan, host of the Group of 20 summit, had "no graffiti" and "no one going to the bathroom on the streets," and said New York City and Los Angeles had a "major problem with filth."
"It's a phenomena that started two years ago," said Trump, who took office two-and-a-half years ago. "It's disgraceful."
The president described cities in a dire state, claiming police officers are "getting sick just by walking the beat," and some people are "living in hell."

Clueless as ever but does he realize he set himself up? What major change occurred two years ago?

(11,738 posts)I know he blames the cities or anyone but himself, always, but he seems to have screwed up on this one. We know that homelessness has been a chronic problem in the US for a long time, but Trump said it started two years ago. Not under Obama (which is usually his answer to get out from blame) and not under another administration. Trump and his policies are to blame as he has been in office for more than 2 years.

(11,738 posts)I don't think that he said one thing about the actual homeless people and why they are homeless. He focused on how the city looks and the values of the property in the cities because of "those people". He is disgusting.

(38,427 posts)Anyone who was aware of this book: The Other America by Michael Harrington, 1962 knows it is not new. Always a certain amount of people in the U.S. are homeless. (Being aware does not mean one has to read the entire book, just know about it)
..What Mr. Trump did is not what he wanted to do. Again, Mr. Trump proves he is not informed, and says things that are actually quite stupid What else does one say about that comment? You tell me..
