From the moment I read the reports of the Indefinite Detention clause of the NDAA this thought has sent chills down my spine. Weve won the Wars on Terrorism Bush Jr. started and by pulling troops out of occupying positions in Iraq and Afghanistan we have immeasurably reduced the chances of Foreign Terrorist attacking us on our own soil. But more importantly why US Citizens would be so enraged as to plot and commit terrorist acts against their own country.

(33,688 posts)is OWS or something like it. It doesn't matter what O's signing statement says. He won't be president forever. Can you imagine allowing Romney, Gingrich or Santorum this kind of power.

(10,715 posts)those detention powers are very specifically derived from the war authorization, and very specifically directed only toward the two defined parts of the war that are active - the war against the Taliban, and the war against Al-qaeda. Unless is somehow involved with one of those two groups, the NDAA doesn't apply.
Of course, the multiple and redundant protections and exemptions for citizens and legal residents could also be brought up, but that's been beat to death here many times...
