President Donald Trump appeared to stumble while reading his Fourth of July rally speech Thursday. When talking about the Revolutionary War, he talked about the successes of the U.S. Army closing the airports.
In June of 1775 the Continental Congress created a unified Army out of the Revolutionary Forces encamped around Boston and New York, and named after the great George Washington, commander in chief, Trump read in his speech. The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis at Yorktown. Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over airports, it did everything it had to do and at Ft. McHenry under the rockets red glare had nothing but victory. When dawn came, the star-spangled banner waved defiant.
Trump didnt deviate from his prepared remarks so its unclear if that was in the prepared remarks or if he lost his place on the teleprompter.

Why did he not mention those?
Yeah, but it showed those pesky British! (Or were they Canadian, or Mexican forces? French maybe? Trump is not clear on that either.)
Those airports the Army took over need plaques to commemorate the historic events that took place there.
Somebody, get onto that!
But Trump, being recently new to any sort of interest in US history, finds it all so confusing. Poor dear!

The Bowling Green battles and subsequent massacre, the maneuvering between opposite sides, the ebb and flow of those skirmishes, the final outcome of that long, protracted campaign . . . history is majorly complex!
Seriously . . . I hope that some future historian watching today is taking careful notes of the slow decline of both the POTUS and insanity in the GOP for his future best seller.
No fiction needed, you couldn't make this stuff up anyway. Not the best screen writer or fiction writer in the world could come up with this stuff.

"Confabulation is a memory error defined as the production of fabricated, distorted, or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world, without the conscious intention to deceive.[1] People who confabulate present incorrect memories ranging from "subtle alterations to bizarre fabrications",[2] and are generally very confident about their recollections, despite contradictory evidence.[3]"
