So I got to a 4th of July party and there were asshole Trump lovers there
Yep, the host...and he has that POS all over a TV screen big enough to use at a drive in movie. Before the party, I told the "host with the least" that I would gladly come, but no Trump -- baseball (Dodger and the Angels both were playing). He said fine. So I get a plate of food and sit down, and the motherfucker puts on the Trump bull shit at the DC mall. I got up and left and the asshole says to my friends, "Did I do something wrong? It's just a parade." I also ended a friendship with a vile piece of shit who did not get why a host should NOT do something like that, left me standing on a street corner waiting for a ride to come after me since I had come with him and the asshole said, "See you after the fireworks." Fuck him, too.
Trump supporters are liars and inconsiderate assholes.

I could not sit and watch MF45 and his parade with seeing in my mind's eye the conditions the migrants are in. I have been haunted by the pictures the children of drawing of themselves in cages, with guards telling women if they want water, to drink out of the toilet. Sick children, crying for their parents. People held for days with not enough room to lie down and sleep.

purposely abuse a friendship. Trump supporters are vile, what person that have empathy can watch what he does and has done to people and still support him?
I read a story that the undocumented immigrants that Trump fired from his properties after their status was made public are asking him to not deport them. One woman worked for the prick for 13 years and was let go at the snap of a finger once the Press started snooping around his properties after he started making such a big deal about immigrants at the southern border. He does not let the Press on his properties anymore, my guess is that he simply hired a new batch of undocumented immigrants and falsified paperwork. It looks like even the Secret Service is now neutered by that asshole after he fired their director earlier this year. |

24. i suggest relating it all to limbaugh, who all republicans know as their leader, who is
at the same time a POS slimey liar whos been wrong about everything- and they know it
but he's certain tell them they worship trump for his certainty and their irrational need for certainty is caused by excessive sex energy on the left side of the brain. when the impatient satisfaction-demanding impulses mix with logic they want quick easy answers and certainty - and since nothing is certain they get scared until someone like hitler or trump bring royal certitude the reason they have sex on the wrong brain is they keep jacking off with the right hand, the hand connected to the logical mathematical side of the brain |

64. it's suggested as an explanation for why humans became 90% right handed
the last 100,000 years and some gene pools have been selecting for it to increase the authoritarian tendencies, fearfulness, intolerance of 'others', etc that could provide a competitive advantage in the absence of democracy - especially in tough times. it's not human nature, but what the human brain does with the diverted 'sex energy'. it may be it's just a quick diversion for people who are more creative and or emotional.
it got worse as humans began to delay the age of reproduction, and use religion, etc to repress sex and tie it with guilt - that's what wilhelm reich was getting at in his paper "the mass psychology of fascism" that's like when columbus met the natives.... pre sowb vs post/bad sowb someone like trump seems a classic extreme eg. getting that sex energy stuck in the wrong places, using it to fuel his greed, depriving the emotional creative side. it probably caused a lot of fear until he learned to rationalize the fantasy world in which he is king. the book describes how rationalizing the denial of reality, such as when simplifying the world into absolutes to create certainty, it requires creativity and that's when some of the trapped sex energy finally escapes to the pleasure centers. other ways to make the connection and produce that pleasure is to force emotion - maybe in others - by being cruel, violent, etc. otherwise there might not be much pleasure at all. In “Sex On the Wrong Brain’, author Ard Falten suggests that right handed humans are diverting sexual impulses to the ‘wrong’ side of the brain. The book explains how sex on the wrong brain, or sowb, magnifies fear and promotes greed and authoritarianism, which could provide competitive advantage in the absence of democracy. |

I think greed and racism and resentment/hatred of women has a lot to do with the Trump worship. Yeah, a lot of the Trumpistas are really, really dumb -- I doubt many could read Cat in the Hat with less than 10 word mistakes... and lord knows they would never get the plot!
But I see such resentment in them and fear that someone is going to take something away from them. They feel no horror at what is being done to those poor migrant children. Nothing...it's like they go blank when these atrocities are mentioned. Maybe too much Faux Snooze. So callous and no caring for those who truly need protection. Old white men -- so many of them -- fearing that they are being passed by and fearing they are irrelevant in every way. |

He went in there with the understanding his former friend would honor their agreement. The other guy deliberately provoked him. To stay would've been to be dominated. The host was saying that the host was more important than this guest.
If TruckFump had not previously had the agreement, maybe your comment would have merit. |

38. It was NOT the host's birthday.
It was the birthday of mutual friend.
I totally agree with you EXCEPT for the FACT that I agreed to help with the party with the Trump lover IF and ONLY IF there was NOTHING political going on. I made a complete and total reference to the Trump Extravaganza for the 4th. Thus I agreed to bring food, cake, wine, etc. I was literally stranded there while this Trump Asshole thought it was funny as hell to have a 54" TV directly in front of my face with high definition so well done that I could literally see each and every hair on the Trump-do. If you could have stayed under those circumstances, then you had a stronger stomach than I do. I was NOT the only person who left. Even another Trump supporter was turned off by what was being done. The asshole whose house it was at just kept saying, "...but it's only a parade." I came to watch the baseball game and to have a good time REGARDLESS of the politics. The asshat then kept not only the wine and cake I brought, but kept the present for the birthday boy. I wrote the original post when I got home and was angrier than all shit get out. If I was unclear, excuse me. My social rules are different: Unless I am sure of the group, I NEVER bring up politics. PERIOD. If I know someone who is at my home for social reasons has an aversion to anything specific, I would NEVER bring it up. I sure as hell would not hold someone at my home captive in front of an Obama speech if I had agreed before hand that there would be NO politics and I had specific knowledge that the person hated Obama. The asshat Trumpster in question had actual knowledge that I hated Trump with a passion. Maybe it's because I have some social graces whereas those who support Trump do not that I would have acted differently in the place of the Trump ass kisser. And...lastly...I did not have a shit fit. I asked that the event be turn off or to another channel...specifically the baseball game I had come to watch by agreement. When I got a ration of shit, i left. |

I myself have come to the point where I have no use for people who think it’s OK to treat people the way those children are on the border. They condone it, and even think it’s funny. I think treating them as if what they think is in any way normal or what decent human beings do is downright wrong. They are supporting psychological torture of children and families. To act like that’s OK is to be a monster in turn.
I just don’t think you disagree with that. Getting mad and leaving the party is far better than acting like all is good in what they believe and do. They’re monstrous. |

People who have parties shouldn't turn on the TV anyway.. unless it's for specifically watching the ball game ..say, the Superbowl. Even a ball game can be annoying if it's only for the enjoyment of a few. Some people just don't have any class. Better to burn that bridge and be done with it.

One of them was a Trump support -- not a strong one -- but liked Trump. He was turned off by what had been done. Every person there knew that I hated Trump with a passion. What got to me was that the asshat who was doing this clearly knew he was causing a problem for everyone and ruining the day.
If there had not been an agreement, I would have excused myself and sat by the pool until it the bullshit in DC was over. We are all baseball nuts -- Angels and the Dodgers -- and the guy whose home we were at had an unbelievable set up for sports events. Huge screen, lounge chairs, etc. Leave it to a Trump piece of shit to insist that everyone does what he wanted. We were there for the 4th, for the baseball game and for a friend's birthday. |

40. Why would a host not plan his party around the wishes of one
Individual attendee? That’s incredibly inconsiderate! If the Trump fans (sound like there were a bunch) wanted to see the parade, a polite host would have explained to them that ONE of the attendees asked that it not be shown to anyone because THEY didn’t want to accidentally see it, and therefore no one could watch it.

41. It was not planned around one person.
An agreement among three of us that there would be no politics because of the divergent views and to avoid hard feelings -- made before the event took place -- and no 4th Extravaganza viewing of Trump -- that was agreed to PRIOR to the event. One person violated that agreement. There were a total of five people there -- all had come to watch a ball game and that with along with a birthday party for one of he attendees and watching fireworks was the plan. It was to be for watching baseball -- not Trump. Those who hated Trump would not bring up politics and those who loved Trump would not bring up politics. One person -- the biggest Trump lover -- decided he want his way or it was the highway (quote) for everyone else. So, I took the highway.
Two Trump lovers, one kinda OK with Trump who hated politics, one kinda not OK with Trump and hated politics, and me who hated Trump and would not discuss politics because of the agreement. No one but one of the group, the host, wanted to watch Trump -- all others wanted to watch the baseball game as we had planned. I left, called someone for a ride because I had not driven there by myself, and others left right after me -- leaving the asshat with his Trump parade. |

43. So this was a gathering of 5 people, one of which did not want
The parade on TV. And the host did want the parade on tv. You were supposed to be watching the baseball games (the LA teams) but instead, they put on 4 hours of Trump, parades and fireworks. When the host refused to put on the game (as you requested) and left the Trump spectacle on tv, you said you were going to leave, and you two are no longer friends. The friend who brought you didn’t tell you that you were right, and wouldn’t bring you home, so you are no longer friends with them either.
You had agreed to watch the games, but instead of watching them, you were watching Trumps DC shitshow. Is that accurate? |

44. Pretty much correct.
Also, before that and nothing to do with the DC shit show, there was a standing agreement between us that NO politics for any reason would be discussed. We also love cars and went to the same cars shows, etc. The problem also was that before the 4th party, I had specifically said to the host of where the event was held that part of the "no politics" agreement would be no DC Trump crap. And he agreed. Also, the event was at his house because of the TV set up. Really fabulous and it was like you were at the ball park the picture was so good.
So there I was stuck with it and we all wanted to watch the baseball games -- no one wanted to watch that parade. He has a set up where you can watch on several screens so we could see the Dodgers and the Angels and everyone was all excited about that. But he had everything covering the events in DC instead and said it was NOT about Trump, but it was just a parade. And the Trump asshole kept the present that was meant for the person having the BD and kept the cake and wine, too. I am sure I was not that clear when I started this thread, but I was so upset when I got to my keyboard, I just spewed! If it had just happened without any agreement about NO politics, I would have gone outside and sat by the pool, claiming a headache or something and then if the shit show never stopped for the ball games, I would have made my excuses and left. ![]() |

48. Okay, I think I understand most of it now.
I think you did the right thing by leaving. It's not what I would have done, but I think you and I have different feelings about discussing politics with friends. I don't really like doing it (that's why I do most of this sort of thing online) but if my friends want to discuss politics, I'm happy to get involved. I feel like I understand my beliefs and the facts well enough to discuss politics with anyone, and recognize when I'm having a discussion that isn't going anywhere (like when someone responds to a well thought out and supported argument with "oh yeah, well fuck you"
![]() I do have one question though... So Trump's speech came on at roughly 6:30 EDT, the fireworks were on around 9pm EDT (according to reports, I didn't see anything of the parade, but a little of the fireworks), the Dodgers game started just after 9pm EDT and the Angles game didn't come on until just after 10pm EDT. If the parade was on instead of the game, the only time that could have happened is when the fireworks overlapped with the first inning or two of the dodgers game. So when you said that the parade was on instead of the game, you mean people wanted to watch the fireworks? |

51. West Coast time -- PDT
Party arrival time was approx 3:30 pm PDT and we set up food, etc., and when I went out to the kitchen to get bowls of chips, dip, and drinks for one of my friends who has ortho problems (recent hip surgery), I came back and the channel had been switched to the DC event and Trump's face was on the TV. (6:30 EDT, 3:30 PDT for Trump here for the DC event.) Watching the pre-game stuff and talking sports when I got up and went to the kitchen to get the food, That's when the channels were switched because the guy whose place it was decided he would rather do Trump than what we all were there for. I asked that we switch back. Guy who's place we were decided we would all watch the DC bullshit instead -- no budging him.
The plan for fireworks were for local fireworks, not the DC ones on TV. Sorry for the confusion. We were at a high rise condo in the Marina and on the balcony, South Bay, LA County. You can watch fireworks all over the place. One helluva view. |

I just checked the DVR at my home from yesterday and the Angels game started taping at my house at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Which means that when I came back from the kitchen, the baseball show before the game was off, and Trump in DC was on. Not any three hours between 4:00 and 5:00 pm PDT. Where are you getting 3 hours?
![]() I can say this much, there was an agreement of NO politics, no Trump. If he did not want to watch the baseball show that was on before the Angels, then he could have put on anything but what we had agreed to that he would not play while I was there. |

62. From the box score at mlb.com
The game was listed as starting at 7pm and times are usually local, if I recall correctly.
https://www.mlb.com/gameday/angels-vs-rangers/2019/07/04/566809#game_tab=box,game_state=final,game=566809 This was my mistake, though. I thought the game was in Anaheim, and it looks like it was in Arlington, pushing it 2 hours earlier than I had expected (starting at 8pm EDT instead of 10). Like I said, if you agreed to "no politics" then you probably did the right thing, for you, by leaving. I would have taken the opportunity to make them defend Trump's idiocy until they eventually changed the channel, but as I've said, we apparently have different philosophies and experiences when it comes to discussing politics with friends. |

friends didn't offer you a ride home or that at least the host could have been gracious enough to get you a cab to go home. Having the TV on is a dangerous thing, and why I don't ever have the TV on when I have an event at home w/ friends...after all, we are all there to enjoy each others' company and not the TV. We get enough f**king TV during the week so keep it turned off and enjoy your friends' companionship.
I am sorry that this happened to you and I wouldn't be surprised that others at this party felt the same as you did. I am often reticent to talk about politics, at least to bring things up, because even though most of my friends have views similar to mine, you don't know where people's heads are at. They may be tired of hearing about things and so out of respect, you don't just come out and say, "Goddamned Trump right...?" 81. Did the Diamonbacks "Walk" the game away again?
Anyone that don't know what I mean should search for "Diamondbacks and walks". Basically, the Diamondbacks were leading something like 3-1, brought in their Closer, who got two outs quick, then the wheels came off. First the Closer walked the bases full. Then the Closer walked in the tying run. Finally the Diamonbacks Manager changed pitchers. The new pitcher promptly walked in the winning run for the Dodgers. In total, five straight walks without an out. Since the Dodgers were at home, the game was over with the fifth walk.
Dodgers fans, the Dodgers look for real this year, nothing like last year where it was nip and tuck. They are destroying their division and posting the best record in all of baseball so far. |

55. Yes, sooner or later it has to happen. A Trump supporter is an
elephant in the room for us. What are we supposed to do, pretend that all the hate and lies and fraud don't exist while they are hanging around? It's not sustainable. Fortunately in my circle of friends and family I only had one, who I had never discussed politics with before Trump started running for office. Once he started, he wanted to discuss Trump every time he showed up. I soon knew he was going to eventually, somehow, have to go - when he told me he was "getting rid of his Direct TV and all his news, except Fox News". I finally reached my limit with his ignorance when he told me how I didn't need to worry about the cost of my diabetic son's insulin because "he could go to our local Health department office and get it", and it was clear he was more concerned about "guns being taken away" than my son's life. After he said that I stopped answering the phone for him. I didn't make a big production about it, just simply stopped answering the phone until he got the message.
They don't change, they just keep getting worse. Sooner or later they must go. |

He told me that he didn't vote for George H.W. Bush in 1992, though, after he heard him give a "wimpy speech" about a "kinder and gentler nation". |

106. Yes.
But not physically that I know of. Must have his way and thinks he is right about everything. Must be in charge. Wealthy, too much time on his hands, and so far right he makes Trump look middle of road. Cannot say he is a racist, but he thinks women should know their place, immigrants are trash, and hates Obama. Never married, no children. Lost his long-time live-in lady friend of approx 17 years about a year and a half ago, and he really got worse after that.

111. We had a mutual friend -- the birthday boy.
The two grew up together. I never did anything with the RW asshole only.
The party was at the home of the RW asshole because of the video/TV set up to watch the Angles and the Dodgers. Also: We could sit on his balcony (high rise condo in the beach area of LA County) and watch fireworks all over the place. I had never been to his home before -- it's beautiful to say the least. We had a standing agreement that NO politics would be discussed because the RW asshole was totally far RW Trump lover and I hate Trump. The RW asshole suggested his place for the BD event and I agreed as long as no politics and no Trump DC shitshow. |

115. I feel bad for the birthday boy/girl.
Guess a bunch of people ruined his birthday party because of politics.
