Keep your mouth shut! Judge roars at sex abuse victims mother for complaining about repeated trial delays
Published 1 min ago on July 9, 2019 By Travis Gettys
A New Jersey judge scolded a victims mother after she interrupted a court hearing for a teacher who allegedly sexually assaulted her teenage son.
John Angeline, a former English teacher at South Plainfield High School, was charged in 2015 with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, along with criminal sexual conduct, after the teenage victim reported the abuse to family members, who alerted police, reported TAP Into Piscataway.
The 44-year-old Angeline, whose teaching certificates were suspended in 2017, was expected to plead guilty as part of an agreement with prosecutors that would not require him to serve any prison time or register as a sex offender under Megans Law.
Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Carver told the court June 28 that his office wanted to require Angeline to register as a sex offender and undergo long-term supervision, but that deal had not yet been completed.

(1,810 posts)It's nice to see the prosecutor not looking to just clear one off their desk.

To me it looks like they did exactly that-try to clear the desk.

(1,810 posts)Sounds like the exact opposite of clearing it off the desk.
"A trial date was set for Oct. 22."

(4,386 posts)Why was that changed? Public outcry? Don't know. Second deal-no jail time, he registers, probation. For sexual assault numerous times, over a 2 year period. Apparently the guy was too stupid to take the deal. Sorry-still looks like someone took the easy way. Looks like the trial was forced on them by the judge.

(1,810 posts)The prosecutor wouldn't go for the original deal and it appears the defendant currently thinks he can do better at trial.
That's how the system works. If the prosecutor wanted to clear his desk he would have taken the original plea, which it seems clear he wouldn't.

(4,386 posts)WTF.
"The victim and his mother stood up at the judges request, and the woman complained about how long it had taken to prosecute Angeline, who was told he did not have to attend the hearing.
Weve been living with this for four years, the mother said. Its been constant delays. All Im asking for is fairness for this, please.
Rea shocked onlookers with an outburst directed at the mother and her son, who is now an adult."
