Democracy in Trumpistan

Is the choice truly that stark? A democracy or a dictatorship?

Is the present economy for real or is it an illusion?

Is this truly the way that America wants to be seen? When once we were the beacon of the world, for the refuse and those seeking freedom. Do we truly want to surrender that?

We are a nation of immigrants.

The American people will make their choice, just like other nations around the world have made their choices.

experiment.

The choice of sinking into dictatorship is not limited to here. Look what happened to the Roman Republic. To Poland, Turkey, and Brazil now. My personal belief is that only the strongest democracies have any chance of standing up to a strong dictator intent on stealing power. We've been good so far. And lucky.

The economy? No one knows. We are returning to the free-for-all of the late 1800s and we saw how that ended. We are in a huge bubble with vast amounts of cash and credit with few places to invest in the future.

Forget about soybeans. China is investing around the world and building vast amounts of IOUs in Africa, South America, and Asia. They are also vastly outspending us in R&D. They won't be the second largest economy for long, and no one knows what that will mean.
