which dems are AGAINST impeachment?

we have 80something on the public record supporting impeachment.
pelosi and clybourn have said the caucus is not there yet.

i can see that there are those that are ready to go, but keeping their head down, so let's assume there are 100 yeahs.

who are those on the other side, who obviously have some weight to pull off that balancing of the scales?

i dont believe it is just pelosi.
who else is on that side of the question?

4. For some, there is a feeling that supporting impeachment

could cost them their seats in 2020. Depending on the district, there are Democratic House members who are there by the skin of their teeth, really. Our 2018 majority came from flipping some Republican seats in various districts. In most cases. the person who won only won by a small margin, and that win required the candidate to walk a very thin line on some issues.

Now, I don't know if those worried members of Congress have justification for those worries, but the worries exist.

There are many House districts across the country that sometimes elect Republicans and sometimes elect Democrats. Enough districts to swing the majority between the two parties.

Add to that the certainty that the Senate will not vote in a 2/3 majority to remove Trump, and it's not surprising that some representatives are hesitant to take a position on impeachment.

Nancy Pelosi knows who each of those reps is. Right now, she also knows that she cannot muster a majority of the House to vote on any impeachment issue, including an official inquiry. If a vote were held next week, it would fail to pass. That's absolutely certain. So, no vote will be held, because losing in such a vote would end the chance of impeachment completely.

Congress is all about politics. And politics has to consider members who do not have a large majority in their districts and could lose over almost any issue. And that's why there won't be a vote. It's not so much that members oppose impeachment. It's that they will lose their elections in 2020 if they vote for it.

7. well, i found this tracker. there is not a clear overlap w your lists.

i knew a few on that first list had come out for impeachment. the diff formats make it a little tedious to compare, but there are enough to say there isnt a clear correlation.

is a good place to check people's own reps.
mine is already on board.

8. a minority of the pro impeachment House members from your list are centrist caucus members
Sun Jul 14, 2019, 08:07 PM
Jul 2019

(who number 110 members in the overall House Democratic Caucus ATM.)

24 centrists openly support impeachment, and most all are in the New Democrat Coalition, only three total come from the even more centrist Blue Dogs (Vela) or the bi-partisan and problematic Problem Solvers Caucus (Cardenas and Peters)

86 centrists do not openly support it atm.

Only one of these 24 who do support it, is what could be called top leadership, Himes, although Rice and Peters are junior leaders in their caucuses.

aren't against it either. Like my rep, they want more information. After Mueller spoke for 9 minutes last month, there was a little boomlet of House Dems coming out supporting impeachment. We'll see what happens after he testifies in public on the 24th.
