The joke on us?

Heard on the news this morning a reference to the birtherism joke that Obama made at Trump's expense at White House Correspondent's dinner in 2011. (Remember Trump's face?) Given how petty and thin-skinned Trump is, I wonder how many of the horrors visited on us since 2016 were spawned by that joke.

They were spawned by Trump's pathological inability to find any humor in the world or do any kind of introspection. I have been the butt of jokes throughout my life. Playing the dozens with friends, when I have done something comical or absurd, etc... My reaction has either been to clap back with a pithy retort, to laugh if the joke was funny, or just to move on. NEVER to take revenge in any catastrophic way on the person who made the joke. If the joke was in poor taste or meant to really hurt me, then I would take it up with the person and ask them why they felt it necessary to do it.

To even allow even a little bit, the notion that "the joke spawned" anything is to take the responsibility of of the reaction and decision-making away from Trump. He is a rich, grown ass man. He shouldn't be such a little punk who can't take a joke. President Obama took years of stupid ass jokes from racists and idiot. He took birtherism from the idiot Trump and he answered back with a joke. He didn't go after Trump and try to ruin him abusing his power as the President, he made a joke. That asshole can't take a joke in good humor and move on. HE is the one doing evil things because HE likes to do evil things.

Trump is the joke that scared angry White people and an apathetic electorate played on the rest of us.

I loved it at the time (still do) but yeah, the whole world has been paying big-time for that basically mild roast. I am convinced that was when he decided he would run and undo everything Obama had done. And that he would show everyone being Pres wasn’t as hard as Obama was implying in the joke.
