Maddow shows what Trump was trying to distract from with his latest racist attacks

First, Maddow noted, there was “what they announced in terms of changes to asylum law … maybe this president’s most radical effort to change laws along racial lines since the Muslim ban that he tried to implement as soon as he got into office. It’s part of a larger mosaic in terms of how the president is running and using race to get himself reelected.”
-----------
“Today was the first day of only the second criminal trial to have resulted from the Mueller investigation and the Russia scandal,” said Maddow.
----------
Also developing is the ongoing legal quagmire facing former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. “He pled guilty to lying about secret communications with the Russian government during the transition and became a cooperating witness at that time,” said Maddow. “Flynn was apparently a good cooperator for a while. The special counsel’s office recommended to Flynn’s sentencing judge that Mike Flynn should get zero time in prison as recognition of how much help he was able to provide them as a cooperating witness.” But all of that has subsequently fallen apart, as Flynn has hired a new team of confrontational defense attorneys and prosecutors have reclassified him from witness to co-conspirator.
----------
“CNN obtained surveillance that appears to show how Wikileaks got that stolen material from Russian intelligence in the 2016 campaign and it is a fascinating story,” said Maddow.
----------
“How do you keep this all in perspective?” concluded Maddow. “How high up do you need to get in elevation before you can look down at this news cycle alone and say yeah, this is fine. We can handle this. Just a remarkable day in the news.”

But you need to add Epstein to that list. Maybe at the top. Dirty Donny is up to his neck in that one.

it was just revealed about the cash and diamonds that Epstein had stashed at his house and the fake passport listing his address as Saudi Arabia. This needed to be front page news. A judge is going to rule whether or not Epstein gets bail, hopefully it is taking longer to make a case for not granting him bail iron clad. If Epstein gets bail we will never see or hear from him again.

The Epstein case can bring Trump down. I don't expect "religious" Talibangelicals to bat an eye that Trump is a pedophile, but suburban moms will care. Pedo45 - 2020 isn't a good look.

Oh and impeachment will never increase his 35% base, it will only shrink it. The narrative that impeachment will give Trump the election is reich wing propaganda.

Oh and the new polls that show that Trump's approval is growing is also reich wing propaganda.

and we are a year and a few months out still.
I don't think they will be able to keep the Epstein news from the front pages for long, especially when new revelations come to the surface. At least I hope not.

Trump have never exhibited strategic thinking. And there's no point in "distracting" from an obscure trial that nobody's going to pay attention to until a verdict occurs.

But this time around, why don't we accommodate Needy Amin, and spend a little time on his racist tweets? He clearly doesn't want to answer questions about the tweets, and he'd like everyone to move on to his next trick. But we don't have to.

Let's live with this fact: President Trump, and a significant segment of his partisans, are racists who don't think the Constitution applies to all Americans. They are comfortable with denying the blessings of liberty to Americans on the basis of race. Let's bring it up over and over again. Let's keep asking Republicans if they stand with Trump on that idea. If not, why not? Don't let go until you get a satisfactory answer, not some sophistic dodge.
