President Trump has refused to walk back his racist tweets targeting a group of Democratic congresswomen of color in part because he believes his supporters will stand by him. CBS News' Ed O'Keefe spoke to a number of Trump supporters on Monday who say they do.
"I know some people don't like his tweets and they think he's crass. I -- that's why I voted for him," said retired businesswoman Mary Lou Kohlhofer.
Another supporter, Doug Thomas, said, "It's unfortunate he had to do it the way he had to do it It's really the only way he can to get this country back."
Nancy Schneider even went so far as to echo the sentiment in President Trump's tweets, saying, "If you think you have it better in your -- where you came from or how they did things there, go back where you came from."
President Trump seemingly targeted Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts who have dubbed themselves "The Squad" when he tweeted that "'Progressive' Democratic Congresswomen" should "go back" to their countries. All four of the lawmakers are American citizens and three of them were born in the U.S.

In Buddhism, it is said that there is basic goodness in everyone. How can that be true when people go out of their way to show us that they have no goodness?

(82,849 posts)Just before the 2018 mid-terms, Trump was going full racist with his Caravan of Doom that was going to conquer America. How'd that work out with the voters?
We don't have to hare after every distraction Trump throws out. Let's stop on his out-and-out racism for a little while, and shame his followers to the extent they can be shamed about their racism and their racist hero.

(53 posts)I don't live in the US any longer, thank goodness. But, if I did I would not be able to play golf with the well-educated, urban and urbane people I knew back there. Most had money and education and have become Trump supporters.

(34,109 posts)by "get this country back"? Has anyone ever asked them back from who or back to what? If they mean what we think they mean then they are talking about a "new, pure, country" and that has never worked out well for anyone not to mention it would be boring as hell to live in that country if it did.
Sorry to be a bit smug about it but I am sick and tired of living in a country that us running on nonsense, pandering and *wink wink* *nod nod*.
