82-year-old House Democrat asks 'The Squad' if he can join

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) could be the newest member of the House's "Squad" after the 82-year-old congressman asked his freshmen colleagues to be part of the tight-knit group.

Pascrell tweeted the request at Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.) after satirical outlet The Onion poked fun at him in a Tuesday story.

The Onion tweeted an image of Pascrell standing near Omar with the caption "Bill Pascrell Quietly Asks Ilhan Omar If He Can Be Part Of The Squad," prompting the longtime lawmaker to tweet out his own request.

"Well. How bout it," he quipped, tagging the four.

Be a part of the squad! I'm not quite as old as Mr. Pascrell but I'm closer in age to him than these fearless women and would identify with them in a heartbeat. I see in them the same fighting spirit that I see in Ms. Warren and I say "its about time"! I'm tired of being marginalized and told that things aren't possible. ANYTHING is possible if you are willing to fight for it. Our country is worth fighting for and I'll be on the front line as long as I'm able. I am tired of being told we can’t have nice things because we are blowing trillions on war. I want a modern train system, college tuition for all, universal health care,community centers, neighborhood art centers, more museums and cultural centers, organized day care in every neighborhood.
