Princess Ivanka: "People want to work for what they get."

‘I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last four years. People want to work for what they get.’

That’s how Ivanka Trump, who was given a job by her father, responded to this question in an interview on Fox News that will be aired on Sunday:

“You’ve got people who will see that offer from the Democrats, from the progressive Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Here’s the Green New Deal, here’s the guarantee of a job,’ and think, ‘yeah, that’s what I want, it’s that simple,’” Steve Hilton said. “What do you say to those people?”

“This idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want,” Trump said. “They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where’s there’s the potential for upward mobility.”

Ivanka is so full of SHIT. It is one of the biggest lies/gaslights that the US is the leading land of opportunity for people born here.

If they want to live in a high upward mobility nation they better move to the Nordics or Canada, etc.

In the core OECD nations the US has the lowest upward mobility for individuals over their lifetime. It also is so much more linked to your families wealth you were born into. The US has the biggest gap between perception and reality (meaning people vastly overestimate, by 50% their chances of moving up.) You have a 7.8% chance of moving from the bottom 20% to the top 20% in the US. It all comes down to internal nation-specific wealth inequality, and it cuts across countries no matter where they stand in terms of comparative rank in wealth per capita versus other nations in the OECD. Your chances of moving up are 40% or so less in the US compared to the top OECD nations in terms of upward mobility.
