CNN anchors come as close as they feel permitted to go in saying Ryan's speech was full of fibs http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/08/great_moments_in_cnn_euphemisms.php #euphemisms #fail

That article at TPM is headlined "Great Moments in CNN Euphemisms" and these are the quotes from CNN's Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett:

Great Moments in CNN EuphemismsBlitzer: So there he is, the republican vice presidential nominee and his beautiful family there. His mom is up there. This is exactly what this crowd of republicans here certainly republicans all across the country were hoping for. He delivered a powerful speech. Erin, a powerful speech. Although I marked seven or eight points Im sure the fact checkers will have some opportunities to dispute if they want to go forward, Im sure they will. As far as mitt romneys campaign is concerned, paul ryan on this night delivered.
Burnett: Thats right. Certainly so. We were jotting down points. There will be issues with some of the facts. But it motivated people. Hes a man who says I care deeply about every single word. I want to do a good job. And he delivered on that. Precise, clear, and passionate.

Wolf B just gave greatest example of typical media fail you could want: says Ryan's "critics" may dispute some of facts.

(8,377 posts)How can something be a fact to one person and not a fact to another? Either the Janesville plan was closed while Obama was President or it wasn't.
The media has a responsibility here.

(13,776 posts)... what those "points" are and why they are lies. Even if they can't use the word "lies," why can't they say that those statements were incorrect, or he misspoke, or was mistaken? I really would like to know. Are there meetings at which anybody brings up the possibility of CNN actually doing some fact checking?
