are not the same thing. Power requires stories and some truths. If you only had truths it would be utter chaos. Liberal Democracies are a story based on myths and truths.

I think we are in for a fight for what the story and truths that joins us or divides us is going to be. I'm all for making science the foundation.

Athenian democracy lasted only a few hundred years until the Macedonians wiped it out. The Roman Republic lasted a little longer. After Rome, Europe didn't see democracy until the Enlightenment, and then it was still a tough go.

Democracy is not the natural order of things. It should be, but we haven't evolved enough to accept it as the default.
