My Anti-Trump/Republicans Pinterest Board Was Deleted.

Not just certain pins, the entire board, with hundreds of pins. The reason that they said they took it down was because it was considered "hate speech". All I did was save other peoples pins to my board, I did not create anything myself.

I could see it if they just removed a particular meme or pin that they thought was out of line (and I don't think any of them were, most of them just stated the truth), but they removed the entire board!

What is happening in this country? You can't even express your disapproval of a politician or a political party. Are they removing boards that are pro-Trump/Republican and Anti-Liberal/Hillary/Obama? I am just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them.

There are still anti-Trump/Republican pins on the board. I wonder if it was because I had compiled such an arsenal?

There's an option to do this when you create the board. You can also make it "secret" after the fact. There's a pencil icon associated with each board. Click on it, and then check the "Make this board secret" box. That should do the trick.

I think your problem was that your pins wound up in the general news feed. People saw them and reported them. Making them "secret" keeps them out of the feed. Nobody sees them but you.

But I have to say this:

Kudos to you for coming up with the idea of doing an anti-trump board! I love it! If I'd have known that, I would have pinned some of your stuff.

When you click on the 3 dots above an image, the first thing on the list is Hide Pin. Shouldn't that be enough for people? Deleting an entire board is harsh.

A friend of mine said there is a website somewhere (I could not find it), that encourages them to go find the "anti President" websites and get them shut down just like they did to Alex.

That works both ways, I guess, because I haven't seen any overtly Jesus or MAGA pins there lately. The Hide Pin thing took me by surprise, though. I thought I was saving a photo, and it was the damned new Hide Pin link.

Anything you "save" to Pinterest is available to anybody else who wants to see it or download it. You don't get privacy or a private archive, as far as I know.

I've been saving all my "Chump" stuff, like the cartoons, memes and photos that I share on DU, into my private account on MediaFire. I pay a small amount per year to secure my private account, but it's worth it because my stuff will never be deleted by MediaFire. I can delete or add as I choose, and I can make it available to friends. But it's not open to the whole internet like Pinterest is.

"Only you (and anyone you invite) can see your secret boards. Secret Pins and boards won’t appear in your home feed, in search, or anywhere else around Pinterest.
If you want to make a new secret board, create a board and toggle "Secret" when you name the board."

I have all mine stored on imgur and it's on private mode.

I hope this helps.

Because if it's only liberal/progressive posts/pins/groups then this is a serious discrimination issue.

I don't go to the opposition pages, so I can't answer your question. There are still our kind of groups still available on Facebook, so it's not like they purged them all. Reverb Press was one that I liked.

However, I don't know who makes the ultimate decision. It would have made more sense to delete any offensive material than an entire board that was just a collection of pins documenting Trump/right wing crimes and behaviors.

"In October 2012, Pinterest announced a new feature that would allow users to report others for negative and offensive activity or block other users if they do not want to view their content. Pinterest said they want to keep their community "positive and respectful."

BTW, I didn't get to see what you pinned. Although I can guarantee it wouldn't have been offensive to me.
