(45,806 posts)I'd love to know how much of this swill has actually sold. I can't believe anyone would pay $35 without some recommendation.

(17,502 posts)The wedding party had to serve Trump wine. I had a glass of red with my dinner. The wine was MEH but not disgusting. This was well before the election. What they were making then might not be what they make now. Eric has had a few more years to tweak it. It is made about ten miles from me and I don't recall ever seeing it offered in a local restaurant.

Although...I'd be real curious to know if sales have declined in the past year.

(11,949 posts)Liberal folks that I have the pleasure of working with.
They reported them to be not bad, especially the blends trying for the old world style.
Realize Trump did not start it but bought as a turn key operation keeping the winemaker on board.
They are Virginia Wines so will never really compete with the best of France or California whose style they imitate. But they are not priced to compete with the best. Ive had some shitty Bordeaux wine! Seldom get a really bad Cote du Rhône, my favorite style.
I like trying odd domestic east coast wines, and in a non political world would like to try it. But they arent getting my money! I really do not support boycotts as they seem picayune to me. I know others disagree. But this is money straight in Eric Trumps pocket. Not doing that.
That said, Ive had some pretty decent Virginia wines. If I lived in the mid-Atlantic states I would drink them regularly to support local businesses especially for a casual meal with the wife. Unfortunately we dont get them here in Florida regularly so we generally drink French blends under $15 with supper. Florida makes no serious wine. Muscadine blends. Yuck!!

(43,224 posts)Native grown, not imported. Pretty good.
Of course theres plenty of muscadine to go around too. Its an acquired taste but as someone who loves to go local Ive somehow managed to acquire it.
What can I say? Im not a snob, Im a Floridian.

(11,949 posts)Maybe I am somewhat a wine snob!
But I do buy their wines, especially this time of year. And somewhat regularly.
They make great Sangria which is perfect in our summer months! Publix sells them.
Im also starting to find more Florida raised poultry and Pork but it is still not in the grocery stores.
Have a nice evening.

(43,224 posts)Local preferences aside, I think I like Italian wines the best.
But I think thats mostly psychological because of its association with Italian food, so...
GulfCoast66
(11,949 posts)In many ways more approachable than French wines.
We often eat Mediterranean style meals and Italian wines work very well. Pinot Grigio is the perfect wine for shrimp or grilled fish. And this time of year light eating, and drinking is called for. Especially for we Floridians. I hope to catch some fresh fish tomorrow!
Visited Italy last year. Great wines!
Have a great weekend.
