Kos: No one thinks Romney will win, because he won't

Yesterday, Chuck Todd on MSNBC talked about how Republicans wanted to refocus on Wisconsin as they see Ohio slip away.
They. See. Ohio. Slipping. Away. I'm not sure how Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes makes up for Ohio's 18, or Pennsylvania's 20. Even if Republicans surrender both those states, winning Colorado, Wisconsin, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia—states Obama won in 2008—that wouldn't be enough for Mitt Romney to get to 270.

Fact is, Republicans are losing. Just watch their convention and note the utter lack of energy. Nothing. We all hated Sarah Palin, sure, but she lit that convention hall on fire. George W. Bush knew how to amp it up. Zell Miller had the place rocking. On Tuesday night, Chris Christie had to order people to stand up.

You can't fake this. We couldn't pretend we were going to do well in 2010. We knew a storm was coming, and it was all we could do to hang on to a few of our best electeds. But you remember how you felt two years ago, how you just wanted to tune out and focus on more positive things in your life. Democratic performance was in the gutter, as was fundraising and volunteerism. No one likes to sweat and fight for a losing cause. The whole "fight like you're 10 points down" is ludicrous, because when you're losing, you call it quits.
Now if you need to feel like the race is tied to be properly motivated, then by all means, there's plenty in the traditional media pushing that conceit. But it's not tied. When the Romney campaign is looking for alternatives to freakin' Ohio, after already having surrendered Pennsylvania, it's not a tied race. Not even close.

Oh, and Wisconsin? Democrats haven't run a single ad there. They're not too worried.

the Mittwit once and for all. The POTUS will destroy him. And Biden will be picking his teeth with Lyin' Ryan's bones by the halfway point of their encounter.

Presidency, house and senate. Cannot let our guard down or take any area for granted. Articles like this make me worry when I should be happy

5. That room is a void, lacking all energy, the visuals are static and the apathy is palpable.

I watched just a few minutes, no sound last night. Forgetting politics and content and all of that, as an event it looked dull, forced and without dynamics. The faces of the attendees are listless and their movement in the arena sluggish. I knew they faced a difficult chore in trying to seem excited by Romney, but I expectrd that the rank and file delegates would at least project some energy because it is new to them and should be really fun for them. They look like Mom and Dad dragged them to the Garden Show and they are skulking about missing Scooby Doo.
The word I keep looking for is pallor. A certain visceral pallor to the entire event.

Was breathless in his description of the energy and magic in the room. It was like nothing he had ever seen, etc.
Same with Fineman. Even Rachel seemed a little caught up in it. O'Donnell actually tried to make the case that there was no way Obama could defend himself.

Hopefully by tonight they have come back to their senses.

seems bigger and better when you see it in the theater than it does when you watch it at home? There is a crowd-dynamic and a venue-dynamic that affects your perceptions. I don't doubt that O'Donnell's breathlessness (which I noticed too) would have been a little more under control if he had watched Ryan's speech on the monitor in his NYC studio. That's what I attributed it to, anyway.

10. That is so true. On tv the whole RNC looked lame.

Sluggish, dull, devoid of life. I did think Palin (who I dislike immensely) got the crowd energized in 2008 and McCain went up a few points after that. But I didn't see that this time.

GIVE UP!
At some point, hanging in there just makes you look like an even bigger loser
And the graphic is a kitten hanging off a rope, clearly riffing off of the famous poster.

Another favorite is a picture of a kayaker going over a waterfall with the caption:

COURAGEOUS
Because "moronic" just sounds mean in a eulogy

Then there's:

A picture of a male & female lion snarling at one another with the caption:

DEVOTION: After 20 years of marriage, "until death do us part" stops being a vow and starts being a goal

The last two aren't germane to the topic, just hilarious. Sorry

No reason for all the doom and gloom.

ETA: Last time, they even got a bounce and were ahead in the polls at the time of their convention. Then the debates and more voters took a look at Palin and realized they didn't want her near the WH. And she was just the VP candidate. Rmoney is going to turn off lots of voters.
