Editing to add that I just learned via Twitter that Trump sent out Lynne Patton earlier this evening to appear on Fox News to talk about billions in federal grants to Baltimore and suggest the money went to "deep pocket crooked politicians."

This entire tweet of his is a lie. None of it is true.
But, by casting Rep. Cummings as somehow responsible for the fiscal management of a city or a state, is nonsense. Saying that "the money was stolen or wasted" should require some factual back-up. He's implying that Cummings has stolen funds and that should not be tolerated.

(82,849 posts)Seems the Republican governor of Maryland diverted a whole lot of state money that was supposed to be spent on Baltimore:
The Baltimore Sun has it here.
Hogan shifts money to roads, but not everyone's a winner
But not necessarily evenly.
The list of major new projects that Hogan funded includes big-ticket highway improvements for rural Maryland, from Garrett County in the west to the Eastern Shore. There are projects costing $100 million or more in Prince George's, Montgomery and Frederick counties. In Baltimore City? Nothing. In Baltimore County? Less than 1 percent of spending for new projects.
"It does appear that a lot of this is not in the Baltimore area. That's pretty striking," said Andrew Farkas, director of the National Transportation Center at Morgan State University.
"Striking" is a nice way of putting this diversion of funds from black majority areas to white majority areas.

(15,805 posts)Trump doesn't even understand that state governments and city governments are different than the federal government, and each have their own elected representatives.
Trump thinks Cummings can show up at Baltimore City Hall and appropriate monies from the local Treasury for some nepharious plots. The man is a drooling idiot!
He's been in the Oval Office for 2 1/2 years and be still can't understand how government works. Definately not smarter than a 5th grader.
