Don't know the answer to your question.

I believe there's a computer group You'll probably find answers there, too

Open up the Chrome settings and delete the Yahoo startup page, enter the URL for the startup page you want instead. I think there's an option that says "Tell me if this setting changes" in which it will ask you if you really want to change your page. That's because some websites are sneaky about changing it to something you don't want.

Your startup page may be set to Yahoo!. You can change that by clicking the vertical ellipsis (three dots) in the top right of your chrome browser, then Settings. From there, scroll down to the Appearance section. Where it says "Show home button", turn that on (if it's not already) and change the home page to your desired page. It likely says something like "http://yahoo.com" right now.

Also, go down to the On Startup section, and check the startup page. You'll want to change both the Home Page and Startup Page to your desired page (sounds like www.google.com).

The other thing that may be going on is your search provider may have been changed to Yahoo!. Still in the Settings menu, look for the Search engine section, and select Google from the dropdown menu.

I just tried all your suggestions.

Nothing worked.

I didn't change anything.

It changed on it's own.

Could it have something to do with my internet service being out for about 15 minutes ???

I have never used Yahoo.

I have always used Google or Google Chrome.

I have tried everything and I don't know anything else to try.

Some apps and tools (like Java) are sneaky when you set them up or upgrade them. Java, in particular, used to change your home page and search provider if you just accepted the default options when you upgrade. I'm not sure if they still do that, but some other applications and tools do that either because they have a monetary agreement or because they have the same owners. It's dirty and should be illegal (if it's not already), but it happens. Be careful when installing new software or upgrades. And remember, just because you choose the customized install doesn't mean you have to actually change any of the options, but it does give you the ability to see what's going on a little better.
